  • steelersfan

    Absolutely awful pick….speechless

  • Jakey

Whats the point?! Surely we could have signed him as an udfa !

  • VaDave

    Totally dumbfounded.

  • Gregg

I thought this was a joke…..a water boy in the 7th??

  • Linwood

They could have used the 6th pick to trade up. STUPID!

  • steelersfan

At least trade down or something . Worst pick in years

  • Ike Evans

    I hate this draft

  • Ken Krampert

Wow, and this isnt April 1st? Bucky Hodges, Jalen myrick?

  • Reader783

The annual “what the heck” pick. I guess they saw him as our next 12 year LS; on the bright side he was rated #1 LS in the class 🙂

  • Peki

Future hall of famer at LS. Sorry Antonio, you’ve been bumped to second best 6th round pick ever.

  • Brad Lucas

You can’t make this sh*t up

  • Jakey

Bucky has gone. But with players like JoJo Mathis, Keon Adams and Trayvon Hester on the board, just plain stupid.

  • Greg

  • Sweet Lee

Ive been very complementary of his draft, but this one flummoxed me.

  • newguy68

    To the Steelers Organization:

It is OKAY to trade down and get more picks

    Thank you’

    Steeler fans everywhere !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Peki

Don’t think he would have lasted until the 7th

  • steelersfan

This was definitely what we were missing in the Pats game

  • Straubstark

If Greg Warren has a twitter I’d love to see what he tweets

  • Mrs Bighead

  • Stas

They must see him as an OL project…

  • budabar

    THis is embarrassing

  • Steeler4l1f3

Lorenzo Jerome, Issiah Ford, Ejuan Price, Keonta Davis… Nope! Long snapper is rated much higher, take the kid from…

  • Reggie Cunningham

Lol. It maybe time to let Colbert go. I don’t think anyone was going to draft a LS. Could’ve got him in UDFA. Need more defensive guys. He maybe getting Alzheimer or something

  • Steel City Slim

    April Fools!

  • Straubstark

This says a lot about what the FO thinks about James Harrison’s long snapping ability

  • King Black

    Cleveland East here we come

  • Peki

    You’re in luck. Warren: “Lol. that’s maurkice pouncey’s replacement…”

  • Joseph Shaw

  • Brad Lucas

oh my god. you got me rolling man. thanks for the laugh. we need it.

  • steelersfan

  • budabar

Tomlin and Colbert must be hang’ n with M Bryant passing around a bong

  • Petherson Silveira

    Are u fu*#$king kidding me?
What did i do to deserve all this bull#$hit this weekend?

  • Brian Tollini

Didn’t do a scouting report for him huh?#slackers

  • steelersfan

Unfortunately it wasn’t even the 7th. It was the 6th. Heading for the tums

  • Kevin artis

Why? These guys are on the street every year. UDFA could of been this guy.
It would of meant more if we took. Kicker or punter.

  • Joseph Shaw

I mean…can he play LB? Special teams coverage unit?

  • Straubstark

The pure comedic value this pick has already provided is enough to justify it.

  • Danny Young

I just said the same lol

  • Phil Brenneman II

The Depot has really gone downhill lately

  • Michael James

Couldn’t care less about 6th or 7th round picks. 95% of the players you get there aren’t going to make it anyway. I applaud Colbert for this troll move.
Great draft and a troll move that triggers some salty fans at the end, couldn’t ask for more! 🙂

  • Steve Johnson

WT? Are you kidding me? They couldn’t have found something better than using a 6th Rd pick on a LS? Art Rooney II !!! What is going on up there? Colbert is a Joke!

  • Kevin artis

Somebody had to have higher value on there draft board. SMDH.

  • Peki

good for a laugh but seriously, FO must like the team going into next year. Only way you take LS is if you think others on the board have little chance of making team.

  • 2winz

perhaps, but who cares, at this point we addressed key needs. and btw.. don’t call me shirley

  • Conserv_58

Ooof! I can’t wait to see what Colbert has in store for us in round seven. Perhaps competition for the equipment manager’s job?

  • Phil Brenneman II

    Convo between Tomlin and Colbert:

Colbert: well Mike, we have filled some needs and it is the 6th round. What should we do now?

Tomlin: how do you feel about pissing off the entire fan base?

    Colbert: lmao that sounds hilarious

    *Tomlin hands Colbert the card*

    Tomlin: give this to Goodell

  • Kevin artis

  • TroymanianDevil

Where’s the player profile on this guy!!!??!?!?!??!!

in all seriousness… definitely surprising. But it’s really not that bad, 6th and 7th rd guys rarely stick. NE drafted a LS in the 5th round so for everyone complaining about running the team like them, well.. here ya go.

As long as this guy can be the LS for the next 10 years, it’ll be a solid pick.

  • Steve Johnson

Every Draft Colbert does something to make you just want to say W@aT The (BLEEP)

  • 804Stiller

I’m hoping LS stands for Long Safety…………….

  • Kevin artis

    Another LS. Need competition.

  • JT

I hate the pick, like everyone. But he’ll make the team. Most optimistic take I have.

  • Kevin artis

    No. No and No.

  • Steve Johnson

Ok, that’s it for me, I’m done! That was just STUPID!!!

  • JT

Belicheat apparently took one in the 5th before. So there’s that.

  • Jeff McNeill

I vote we go for the top cheerleader in the 7th.

  • homewood619

    What in the WHAT!!!

  • J.

So I guess time was running out and they just ran with the first name they picked up or something. Why draft a guy who you could land as a FA.

  • Phil Brenneman II

He aint taking your spot as ILB depth.

  • Conserv_58

Colbert to Tomlin: “Ok, it’s your turn.”
Tomlin: “Aw mann! I really don’t have the same touch that you do.”
Colbert: “What the heck! Go for it! No guts, no glory.”
Tomlin: “Well, alright. Move that chair out of the way please. Read? Here I go!”
Vvvvvvip Thwack. DANG! I told ya I don’t have good touch.”
Colbert: “Next time use the 125 gram darts, their lighter.”

Art Rooney II enters back into the room: “What the ….!”

  • TroymanianDevil

    great in depth analysis

Patrick Mannelly’s 2017 NFL Draft long snapper scouting report

    Colin Holba
    College: Louisville

Time with Mannelly: three or four sessions in February, an hour each

    Mannelly’s snapping grade: A. NFL-ready

    Mannelly’s protection grade: B+

“Must draft”?: Yes. Mannelly has Holba as the best long snapper prospect in the draft, based both on his observations and on discussions with about five NFL coaches.

Mannelly’s draft round: Middle 6th. (Mannelly: “I wouldn’t go any higher than mid-6 and below, just for any long snapper in general. That’s my feeling.”)

Mannelly on Holba: “He’s a self-taught kid who is still kind of raw at the position but has a tremendous upside. Might have the biggest upside of all three of them. … He’s a bigger guy (6’4, 248 pounds). A little bit more raw. I think they project more out of him as far as his ceiling. Scott (Daly) is probably a little more polished right now, but I think that Colin could potentially be a bigger, top-notch athlete at the snapper position.”

  • Anthony Barnes

I’M DONE I’M DONE I CAN’T DO THIS ANYMORE! The steelers front office has been smoking whatever Bryant had lol.

  • Conserv_58

  • 2winz

if he sticks, years from now nobody will even be mad at this because not many 6th rounders will amount to anything plus we addressed most of our key needs up to this point, AND this is just getting younger at a position. so idk why people are mad, im not.

  • John

IS THE TEam into luxury picks or what?

  • Conserv_58

He then turned him into a WR and won games with him.

  • budabar

Maybe we’re going to convert him to MLB 😁😁😁😁

  • capehouse

just posted one from Chicago’s 16 year long snapper, Patrick Mannelly.

  • Tucker Uhrovcik

    Just here for the comments

  • Kevin artis

Brady went in the 6 round and Antonio Brown was 5th or 6 I believe.

  • Conserv_58

Gregg Lloyd was a sixth round pick and so was Keisel.

  • John Noh

Are we taking a front office worker in the seventh?

  • TroymanianDevil

exactly, you get it.. I do get why people are mad and I’m definitely surprised, but it’s really not that big of a deal. People acting like there’s 14 HOFs that we passed on to get this guy. Although, I’ll be a little irritated if he doesn’t make the roster

  • 2winz

    same lol

  • harlanjames

I’m noone, so please forgive me if I play the devil’s advocate role. But I don’t think it’s true they could have get him as UDFA because I know (I guess) the in the UDFA process PLAYERS may choose the team (among the teams which want you, of course).
So, maybe, if you really want a player, if you are set with your roster and if you think that that player could sign elsewhere as UDFA, better you use one of your last pick to get him……
It could sounds weird, I know, but maybe…. I say maybe… really maybe…. also logical 🙂

  • Luke

at 248 pounds I HIGHLY doubt that

  • Conserv_58

Perhaps they have stocks in Papa Johns Pizza.

  • John

IT Would appear that they got what they wanted in rounds 1-3 and have just been having fun since then.

  • Walt Dongo

    new GM in 7th plz

  • Conserv_58

Heck that’s the same weight as one of my sister-in-law’s legs. Gotter a back up beeper for Christmas. It saves lives at buffets.

  • Kevin artis

These guys are found after the draft. It had to be someone with better value. How bout another edge rusher, safety or ILB? At least you can stash them on the practice squad. Even if he is the slightest any good he won’t be put on the practice squad.

  • FATCAT716

    Same lol

  • Trey

Guys relax I was also questioning this pick but has anyone considered the Steelers Igor be converting him to a different position maybe say a TE prospect at 6’4. IDK here’s to dreaming smh.

  • Jeff Anoble

    Belichick wanted him bad.

  • capehouse

Funny thing is, I bet this guy is finally the one long snapper that can beat out Warren, and I bet he has more snaps than JuJu, Conner and Dobbs.

  • Kevin artis

No, No and No. A long snapper isn’t valued that much that you can’t find another on the street after the draft. I’m pretty sure it’s some still out there from last year draft.

  • capehouse

Greg Warren had 140 snaps on specialteams last year.

  • Kevin artis

You draft a LS and he’s still raw at the position. 😞

  • 2winz

I understand but youre potentially getting younger at a position, why not address it? we have enough edge rushers and ILB, let these players go where they have a chance to at least compete.

  • Michael James

You expect JuJu to get injured? Because he’s clearly the new #3 WR. If Bryant doesn’t get it together he’s the #2.

  • capehouse

He had a mid 6th round grade from what I found.

  • Steeler Fanatic

Well, putting perfume on a pig- could it be the $200k cap savings? I just think the team doesn’t value the bottom of the draft this year.

  • harlanjames

Yes, I agree. I’m just saying that if Pittsburgh wanted him (and just him) they have to draft him. Not wait the FA selections…

  • 2winz

hate to break it to you but we probably wont be punting too much this year. we gonna score 43 pts a gm duh!

  • Jordan James

Tomlin has a lot of pull in draft decisions.

  • capehouse

extra points, or we going for 2 every time too?

  • capehouse

No, I don’t expect him to beat out Rogers at first anyway. I hope he does, but that’s a lot to ask of a rookie.

  • 2winz

yes, 2 pt conversions all day all the time

  • Heywood Jablome

You won’t be mad if he turns into the long snapper we all expect him to be. Ehh emm…..

  • Kevin Artis

I understand his grade, but if he doesn’t beat out the wiley veteran than he’s cut. Because we won’t put him on the practice squad or carry two LS. You can never have enough OLBs, ILB, CB or Safeties. If they have the slightest upside you can put them on the practice squad.

  • Michael James

Fair game, but to be honest, Rogers hasn’t done anything special so far. I really don’t get why many fans are so high on him.

  • Jordan James

    life saver

  • Mr. KnowItAll

What is “tremendous upside” as a LS? lol

  • Burgh Ball

I don’t think Alex had this kid in his mock… roll eyes toward heaven

  • Steeler-Drew

Lol, maybe Colbert really did smoke all of the pot left in the world. It’s beyond laughable at this point.

  • TrappenWeisseGuy ;

Water boy, gotta keep the boys hydrated.

  • StarSpangledSteeler

I thought you loved Cam Sutton?

  • Jones

Greg Warren just tweeted, “they just drafted somebody else’s replacement, not minds. I am back…. Wait… Wat?”

  • tecumseh

Great Pick I think Steelers are trying to emulate some of Patriots strategy, we want great athletes and smart athletes. When you go smart everyone gets smarter, back up QB smart, long snapper smart, the smarts rub off on the great athletes. Good pick. Bengals go great athletes and dumb I like our approach

  • George Hareras

    Rocko’s Modern Life?

  • SoCal Steeler

I’ll just say, he better be our new LS. No room on the practice squad for him.

  • SoCal Steeler

  • SoCal Steeler

Lol and Mettenberger tweeted: Dobbs is Landry’s replacement and I’m Roethlisberger’s

  • LucasY59

with a 2nd rd pick on a WR, it better be 30+ ppg

  • LucasY59

he traded ahead and got a OT

  • LucasY59

5.19 forty time I hope he inst a TE

  • LucasY59

get him with the 7th rd pick then

  • LucasY59

that is what I was thinking, move up (4 spots) to Seattle’s pick and get Awuzie

  • 2winz

hes drawing comparisons to anquan boldin and hines ward.. I will take that any day! but yeah idk about 30 ppg, too low bro too low

  • LucasY59

thats why I put the +, I think 30 is a realistic minimum, but obviously want a lot more

since the D still has some improving to do, the O needs to win games, they need to get leads early and control the TOP after that, managing the clock on O can help the D a lot, no short 3 and outs

  • 2winz

I noticed the + but its too low.. “obviously!” gotta go with 43+. and Martavis and juju will help this offense big time! have brown and bryant outside and juju in the slot.. you cant double brown all game long anymore

  • LucasY59

43 is beyond record breaking, the best I could find in the last 15 yrs was the Broncos averaging 37.9 (ironically that was the yr they go blown out of the SB by Seattle’s D) the Pats are #2 at 36.8 (and again they lost in the SB) so 43+ is close to another TD above those teams (8 TDs a game) I would say even predicting 35+ is a stretch, but much better than 40+ (sorry not going to happen)

  • 2winz

43 ppg would definitely be legendary.. but hey, 43 is a good number to Steelers 😉

  • LucasY59

    yep 43 is a legendary #
