Didn’t he have some key catches in the final drive of last year’s game against the Ravens? Being a yinzer maybe he steps it up against the Ratbirds.

And w/ McDonald out, he could have another, the pats are not that great against TE’s

Been told that JJ can’t get separation. Been told he doesn’t advance the ball after the catch. Been told he can’t catch the ball well.
Well, he showed he can do all of those things against one of the toughest secondaries in the NFL.
He’s not an all-pro TE. I would never say he is but he showed he is athletic enough.
Again, my problem with him has always been his blocking. If he’d greatly improve on that area he’d be an adequate starting TE. Until then, however…..

Not sure if anyone else has noticed, but when people have tried to tackle him, he side steps for extra few yards. Always see people go low on him, but he sees it coming. A lot more athletic than people think

Good for him. Just keeps getting better. He has looked a lot better lately. Much more fluid.

Well deserved overview Alex! I’m frequently pretty hard on Jesse but this was definitely his best game and none bigger than that 3rd down catch at the end of the game. I’m still not sure why he didn’t get the defenseless receiver call on the Weddle hit but those refs were hugely inconsistent.

    Thanks Gloria!

Thanks for another good video Alex. I find your point about situational catches right on the money. JJ and Rogers might not get many shots, but they can still play a huge role, if they come up big in the critical situations. JJ proved his grit Sunday and I don’t see the Steelers taking a TE high in next year’s draft as some mock drafters seem to think.
