Steelers Rookies Get Jersey Numbers

Well the release has come out of the new jersey uniform numbers for the Steelers latest 2010 class of rookies to join the team. Some interesting notes: If I am Antonio Brown, I take that #14 to a priest and let him exorcise the demons from it. Not many choices left for #1 draft pick, Maurkice Pouncey. #52 is surely off limits although not retired. Doug Worthington running around in Greg Lloyd's #95 will look weird. Looks like Virginia Tech DT Demetrius Taylor is indeed a fullback now with #38. That should be fun to watch. While it needs to be updated, here is the Steelers All-Time Read more [...]
I am going to start posting a poll every week day in regards to the Steelers. I ask that you just vote once and truthful. The poll will close after 24 hours of posting. The first poll question is a yes or no answer and based of the article on Limas Sweed I wrote yesterday. Will Limas Sweed make the Steelers 53 man roster? Vote below. Read more [...]
Amazon.com Widgets Former Steelers quarterback Mike Tomczak was arrested on Monday after a domestic dispute with his wife at their home in Bell Acres. This is the first time Tomczak has been charged in several police trips to the couple's home for domestic problems. Geesh, what is going on? Get a damn divorce, will you? I am tired of all the negative light lately on current and former Steelers players. Outside linebacker Lindsey Witten from Connecticut was a late add to the undrafted free agent list late Monday and according to VandySports.com, center Bradley Vierling may be added as well. Steelers Surely Not Sweet On Sweed Anymore

Although Steelers Director of football operations Kevin Colbert claimed a month ago that the Steelers are not counting out Limas Sweed as a member of the 2010 Steelers receiver unit, the draft this past weekend points to anything but that. The Steelers drafted receivers Emmanuel Sanders and Antonio Brown this past weekend with hopes that both will help ease the offseason loss of Santonio Holmes. Going into the draft, Sweed looked like the #5 receiver on the depth chart, although some would argue he could of even been the #6 behind Tyler Grisham. The Steelers brought back Antwaan Randle El after Read more [...]

Birk To Steelers Trade Rumor Debunked

Phil Mackey of 1500 ESPN Radio Twin Cities released a Tweet earlier in the day that he had sources that Ravens center Matt Birk had been traded to the Steelers. After about an hour or so the rumor has been shot down by agent Joe Linta. Linta told Tim Yotter of Vikings update that the rumor was not true. The rumor made no sense because no way would the Ravens trade Birk in the division. Also the Ravens are thin at center and did not draft one this weekend. On the flip side the Steelers drafted Maurkice Pouncey this past weekend and veteran Justin Hartwig is penciled in as the starter following offseason Read more [...]

2010 Steelers Pre Camp Roster

Ok, all of the 2010 Steelers draft picks are in along with undrafted free agent signings. Below is the current Steelers roster pre training cam and mini camp. Currently there are 89 players on this roster and this number will be paired down to the NFL mandated number of 80 by the time the team reports to training camp in Latrobe. As the draft picks are signed, expect one of the offseason free agents to be released as time goes on. This roster will be very fluid for a while with lots of movement likely over the next 60 days. Updated: It seems we have roster spot 90 now as it is being circulated Read more [...]

Amazon.com Widgets After being slapped with a six-game suspension from the NFL, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is expected to issue a statement today, accepting the four-to-six game suspension issued by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell last week. ESPN Outside the Lines reporter Kelly Naqi examines how Ben Roethlisberger will mend fences with teammates and fans. Former running back Najeh Davenport said that teammates were split on Roethlisberger. Davenport lookes baked in the interview though as well. Remember he is the one that crapped in a girls closet. Big Ben will start on the reserve suspended list and will not count as a roster spot. That means I have 54 on this list. Barring injury or any other unforeseen circumstance, here is my guess below. 2010 Steelers 53 Man Roster Prediction Hartwig, Justin C Pouncey, Maurkice C/G Burnett, Joe CB Gay, William CB Lewis, Keenan CB McFadden, Read more [...]

Steelers Draft Recap – Class Of 2010

The Steelers 2010 draft is now in the books. The 3 day event started slow paced on day 1 and 2, but day 3 was a whirlwind. I am still trying to catch up and will likely work through the mid morning. It was an old school draft so to speak. "In Colbert We Trust", I need to always remind myself this. I started to lose the faith after Friday night, but after the 4 rounds on Saturday, everything makes much more sense. Here is a quick recap. Round 1 was as good as pick as any, especially if you like versatile offensive linemen. Florida center Maurkice Pouncey should be with Steelers for a long time. Read more [...]

Steelers Undrafted Free Agent Signings

The draft as over and the Steelers will now begin the process of signing 5-7 undrafted free agents. Check back here and I will pass along the un-drafted free agents as I get them. Please note that none of these are official and will not be until announced on Steelers.com. These reports come in fast from various sources and sometimes are just invites to work out. UPDATE: Daryll Clark reports that he has not agreed yet with Steelers. As I warned these come in from various sources, so be warned. Colbert said 5-7 UDFA's will be signed. I currently have 7 on my unconfirmed list, so that may be about Read more [...]

Steelers Select DE Doug Worthington With The 242nd Selection 35th Pick In The Seventh Round Of 2010 NFL Draft
Video and profile coming tonight.

Steelers selected WR Antonio Brown with the 195th selection 26th pick in the 6th Round Of 2010 NFL Draft. Brown led the nation in punt returns as a senior and could find a role as a return specialist in the NFL. He returned five kickoffs and punts for touchdowns at Central Michigan. Brown also had 305 receptions in three seasons for the Chippewas, the second-highest total in Mid-American Conference history. In 2009 alone, Brown caught a school record 110 passes for 1,198 yards and nine touchdowns. At his pro day, Brown ran a 4.47-second 40-yard dash after running a 4.57 at the NFL scouting combine Read more [...]
Steelers selected RB Jonathan Dwyer with the 188th selection 19th pick in the 6th round Of 2010 NFL Draft. Dwyer is another underclassman out of Georgia Tech that is a great athlete with excellent running back size. Dwyer is a powerful inside runner that likes running downhill. He changes directions well, but is not a back who can get to the edges. He hits the hole hard and better suited to break tackles inside. Not a dancer, just straight ahead power back that likes to run over people. Not a burner, but is deceptive speed wise. Worked in the option, but is better suited for a pro style offense. Read more [...]
Steelers selected LB Stevenson Sylvester with the 166th selection 35th pick in the 5th round of 2010 NFL Draft. Sylvester is an aggressive, fast playing linebacker out of Utah that is a great blitzer. He worked both at outside and inside linebacker at Utah, but the Steelers plan to work him at the inside position. Long and lanky look and initial looks show he can be adequate in pass coverage. Sylvester is 21 years old, 6'2" 1/8, 232 lbs with 33 1/4 inch arms and 10 1/4 inch hands and ran a 4.63 40 at the combine. Sylvester motor runs sideline-to-sideline and has above average read and react skills. Read more [...]
Steelers selected CB Crezdon Butler with the 164th selection 33rd pick in the 5th round Of 2010 NFL Draft. Butler is a 6 foot corner out of Clemson that was a three year starter. While at Clemson ,the Tigers ranked in the top 15 in the nation in pass defense. Butler only had one interception last season, but was not thrown out a bunch either. Not really gifted as a tackler, but is not afraid to hit and has trouble getting separated from blockers as well. Butler has good size for a corner and possesses good straight line speed, but lacks great change of direction in coverage and lateral quickness Read more [...]

Steelers Trade For CB Bryant McFadden

The Steelers brought back a familiar face on Saturday as the acquired former starting cornerback Bryant McFadden from the Arizona Cardinals for a fifth-round pick (No. 155). The Steelers also received a sixth-round pick (No. 195) in the deal. The Steelers didn't take a cornerback in the top half of the draft and now we know why. McFadden left Pittsburgh after signing a free-agent deal with the Cardinals following the 2008 Super Bowl season. Although it's early, there is a real good chance McFadden will go back to his role as the starting cornerback ahead of William Gay. Gay played well in the nickel Read more [...]
Steelers selected T Chris Scott with the 151st Selection and 20th Pick in the 5th round of 2010 NFL Draft. Scott is 6′5″, 330 lbs. and is big. He played offensive tackle at Tennessee, but also offers position versatility. While at Tennessee, he lined up at every position on the offensive line and laying in the SEC, he faced great competition. Scott is strong and possees great upper body strength which he uses to drive his blocks. Scott started at left tackle last year for the Vols. Below are some videos and video highlights of Chris Scott at Tennessee: Read more [...]
