There is a rumor picking up steam that the Steelers might be interested in a draft day trade for Tennessee Titans running back LenDale White. White was a restricted free agent this past offseason and tendered at a second round level. He signed that tender last week and will make $1.809 million in 2010, but is not happy at all. White has no defined role with the Titans right now as Chris Johnson took over his goal-line work down the stretch in 2009. White has been pushing for a trade and after signing his tender is now eligible to be traded.
Speculation has it that the Titans will try to get

Limas Sweed joined the action on day one of the on field OTA practice session yesterday. He released a statement first thanking the Steelers for their support as he dealt with some personal issues. The personal issues have still not yet been disclosed and Sweed did not talk to reporters after practice. Gerry Dulac points out that Sweed could battle a 5th round pick this year for the #5 receiver spot on the 53 man roster. Sweed also is wearing #80 now instead of #14.
Wide receiver Hines Ward was the one notable no-show yesterday at the OTA practice, while nose tackle Casey Hampton looks in great

Unless anything major happens in the next few days like trades, suspensions or earthquakes, I will be sticking with this mock draft as my official mock. Please feel free to comment below on why they will or will not draft the players below. Do not get pissy or upset. Do not let me know that guys will go earlier or later. I read everything, all the major media mocks as well as smaller ones. Yes, I know, I get it that you are a self proclaimed internet guru. This is where I see these guys going. Notice

The Steelers have an unprecedented 11 picks in the upcoming 2010 NFL draft that starts on Thursday night and have not had that many in 11 years. The last time they had more draft picks than that was 1992, when they had 14 in a 12-round draft. Last year the Steelers had 9 picks a year ago and used every one of them, but one has to wonder if they will indeed keep all 11 this year. The draft is being touted as an exceptionally deep draft for both offensive and defensive linemen, positions that the Steelers certainly could use some youth and depth at. 11 picks though, may be just too many.

Jason Cole from Yahoo Sports writes that by Tuesday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is expected to hand out the suspension for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as a result of the recent sexual assault investigation in Milledgeville, Ga. Roethlisberger is expected to take part in the Steelers first offseason practice today.
Jonathan D. Silver of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has a long but informative read on how the documents from the Roethlisberger investigation reveal questionable decisions, missteps and contradictions.
Former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher commented on the situation surrounding

I turned 42 years old today. Big deal? No not really, but it does mean that I have followed the Steelers now for about 38 years now. I have seen it all when it comes to this franchise, at least up until the latest incident with Big Ben that is. This post will not be liked by half of you reading it, according to this poll. The half of the half left I hope to run off as well. I do not sugar coat things like other Steelers blogs do. Most of the bloggers are afraid to chime in completely with their stances and views as they do not want to offend ANY of their readership. Most sit on the sidelines listening

Some final statements from the accuser and witnesses are now being released concerning the Ben Roethlisberger case. The statements describe the behavior of Big Ben and his entourage in the Georgia bar. More documents are here you can read as well.

Ben Roethlisberger has returned to OTA's this week, but has yet to get any hugs from the Rooney family which is to be expected. Charles Robinson from Yahoo Sports, believes that the Steelers are intently listening to offers that are coming inĀ as far as a trade goes. I really think these wounds will take time to heal if Ben stays, but sooner or later the Rooneys will need to endorse Big Ben if indeed

Wow! We didn't know Big Ben read our blog, but after suggesting that Ben Roethlisberger cut his hair yesterday morning, he showed up at the meeting with the Commissioner with a nice and fresh, high and tight cut. It is a slow step in the right direction. Now Ben will wait and see what both Goodell and Art II decide as far as punishment goes.
The rumor that the Rams are trying to trade two 1st rounders for Ben has not been substantiated, but it is quite an entertaining offer. In my opinion though, you would still have to pay high dollar for 4 1st rounders in 2 years with one being a quarterback.

Once again, Ben Roethlisberger had to read another prepared statement following the announcement that he would not have charges pressed against him for the incident down in Georgia. This is getting very tiring for Steeler Nation. Ben says we will see a different person now.
Ben should start by hiring an image consultant. I would of shown up for that press conference on Monday with a haircut that looked like I was joining the Marines. Ben looked like a rough neck yesterday. Sure, I am not down on long hair, I use to have head banger hair myself in the 80's, but considering what Ben has gone through,

Steelers President Art Rooney II was described as "furious" by some after watching the Monday news conference from Milledgeville, Ga., that detailed in graphic terms some of Ben Roethlisberger's escapades with a drunken 20-year-old college student. I have a feeling Big Ben will be suspended either by the NFL or the Steelers to start the season. Ben made a statement on Monday, but did not take any questions.

Steeler Nation as usual is divided into 2 camps this morning. Those that see what the Steelers did with Santonio as being a business move made from a business and organizational stand point and those that think the Steelers got robbed on a Sunday night.
How soon everyone decides to ignore the facts amazes me. First, Tone had become a bigger problem. His recent legal Orlando troubles along with a looming alleged 4 game suspension for violating the NFL's Substance Abuse Policy were only starters. His follow up actions are Twitter were embarrassing as well, especially in light of everything that

Commissioner Roger Goodell has plans to meet this week with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Goodell is awaiting today's news conference in Georgia set for 2 p.m. ET before proceeding with his planned meeting.
Really the trade of Santonio Holmes to the Jets last night was not surprising, what would be surpising is if Jets running back Leon Washington was part of the deal. Washington has yet to sign his tender offer from the Jets yet, so that is what makes this sketchy right now.
What several Steelers fans are missing in all this is that Santonio Holmes will indeed be suspended for

ESPN John Clayton reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers traded troubled wide receiver Santonio Holmes to the New York Jets for a fifth-round pick in this year's draft, sources confirmed Sunday night.
ESPN 1050 in New York first reported the story Sunday night.
Holmes had recently been accused of throwing a glass at a woman in a lounge. No charges have been filed against him, and Holmes' lawyer, Adam Swickle, told The Associated Press a male witness has taken responsibility for tossing the glass.
Holmes was entering his fifth season with the Steelers and has 235 catches for 3,835 yards and

Santonio Holmes attorney, Adam B. Swickle, claims no one threw a liquor glass at a woman in the Orlando nightclub. Swickle has sent evidence that suggest a glass wasn't even thrown that night at Anshonae Mills. Swickle did not reveal what specific information he sent to investigators, but he does sound pretty convincing.
ESPN Pittsburgh host, Ken Laird, wrote on his blog that he too does not see Santonio Holmes getting his contract extended and says he thinks Holmes would rather play in a big market as well. Laird also writes that Hines Ward plans on playing two more seasons provided he stays

The Steelers will announce on Thursday afternoon that unrestricted free agent defensive end Nick Eason has re-signed with the team. Eason started five games in 2009 for the Steelers when starter Aaron Smith went down with injury. Eason's agent David Wyatt said Wednesday night, "He wanted to stay in Pittsburgh because of his love of the city and the team." Eason visited the Arizona Cardinals this offseason, but did not receive an offer. Eason turns 30 in May and will compete for a roster spot in training camp.
