Running back Willie Parker (toe) did not practice as he continues to recover from his turf toe injury suffered against Cincinnati. Safety Troy Polamalu (knee) returned to practice on a limited basis Wednesday, while wearing a brace. Parker is listed as doubtful on the injury report and will likely not play Sunday night versus the Chargers as he recovers from turf toe on his right foot. Willie Iffy, Troy No Way

When running back Willie Parker showed up as not participating in the Thursday practice report, it became a little fuzzier on whether or not he will indeed be ready to suit up Sunday night against the Chargers. The turf toe on the right foot seems to still be hurting FWP pretty good. If Parker can not practice on Friday, he will likely get the questionable tag on the injury report, but with 3 straight practices missed, it would be highly unlikely that he would play. Running back Willie Parker (toe) did not practice because of turf toe on his big toe on his right foot. Parker said, "It feels better, I'm taking it one day at a time." Steelers Place FB Frank Summers On Injured Reserve

On Tuesday, the Steelers placed fullback Frank Summers on injured reserve with a back injury, thus ending his season. Summers was a drafted in the 5th round in the 2009 draft and was the 169th pick overall for the Steelers.

Steelers linebacker James Harrison (illness) did not practice on Friday and was added to the injury report as probable. Safety Tyrone Carter (thigh), wide receiver Limas Sweed (foot) and linebacker Lawrence Timmons (ankle) all practiced on Friday and all listed as probable on the injury report. Timmons posted on his blog that he would be playing Sunday versus the Bears. The news on wide receiver Limas Sweed (foot) is as expected. Steelers safety Troy Polamalu (knee) watched practice from the sideline on Wednesday and has long been ruled out for Sunday. Polamalu continues to wear a knee brace to protect his knee. Defensive end Aaron Smith (coaches decision) and wide receiver Hines Ward (coaches decision) did not participate on Wednesday as they had veteran days off. No Surgery Required For Polamalu

Troy Polamalu Sprained MCL In Left Knee

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said in his post game press conference that safety Troy Polamalu initially is being diagnosed with an MCL sprain in his left knee. The injury could be worse. Another MRI will be performed on Friday or Saturday. The injury will sideline Polamalu for at least 3-6 weeks, maybe longer. It depends on the degree of the sprain. Polumalu was injured on a blocked field goal in the first half after Titans tight end Alge Crumpler fell on the left leg of Polamalu. Polamalu was trying to pick up the blocked punt. On Wednesday, LB Lawrence Timmons (ankle) once again did not practice and is officially listed as doubtful on the injury report. Look for Timmons to be inactive on Thursday night versus the Titans. QB Dennis Dixon (right shoulder) practiced fully for the third straight day and is listed as probable. For the Steelers on Tuesday, LB Lawrence Timmons (ankle) once again missed practice and is now all but ruled out for the Thursday game versus the Titans. QB Dennis Dixon (right shoulder) practice fully for the second straight day.

For the Tians, TE Jared Cook (ankle) sat out practice on Tuesday and is unlikely to play on Thursday. WR Nate Washington (hamstring) was limited again on Tuesday and remains questionable to play against his former team. P Craig Hentrich (back) and CB Ryan Mouton (ankle) practiced fully for the second straight game and will be ready for Thursday.

Steelers LB Lawrence Timmons (ankle) did not practice once again on Monday and is looking very questionable to be ready by Thursday versus the Titans. QB Dennis Dixon (right shoulder) had full participation on Monday.

For the Titans, TE Jared Cook (ankle) and WR Nate Washington (hamstring) were limited in practice participation on Monday. P Craig Hentrich (back) and CB Ryan Mouton (ankle) practiced fully on Monday.

Steelers Versus Bills Injury Report

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said in his Thursday afternoon press conference that quarterback Dennis Dixon (shoulder), tight end Sean McHugh (knee) and offensive lineman Darnell Stapleton (knee) will not play against Buffalo on Saturday night. Tomlin also noted that kicker Jeff Reed (ankle), wide receiver Santonio Holmes (back), running back Willie Parker (hamstring), fullback Frank Summers (hamstring) and defensive tackle Steve McLendon (elbow) are questionable to play as well. Sean McHugh To Have Knee Surgery

Tight end/fullback Sean McHugh will have knee cleanup surgery according to Steel City Insider, Jim Wexell. McHugh has been battling rookie David Johnson for a roster spot, but has missed practice time due to his knee. McHugh signed a three-year contract in the offseason, but he could be pushed out of his role by Johnson.
