Season 2, Episode 32 of The Terrible Podcast is up and since David Todd is still out in Las Vegas so Nick Richetta once again gets a helmet on the show. Nick and I start off this episode by looking at the injury report that Mike Tomlin gave on Tuesday and how it could affect the Steelers this weekend against the Arizona Cardinals. We also look at a few other comments Tomlin made during the presser. We move on to the hot news on Wednesday that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger wants to run the no-huddle offense more. We each give our thoughts on it and the pros and cons related to it. We wrap Read more [...]
Season 2, Episode 31 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd is on a plane to Las Vegas today so I have Nick Richetta to sit in for David to help me break down the Steelers 17-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars yesterday at Heinz Field. I ask Nick right off the bat what stuck out the most yesterday to him and it was the accuracy, or lack there of, from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as he missed open receivers several times yesterday and got away with forcing a few balls as well. We wonder if Ben is stats chasing or just trying to spread the ball around too much instead of just taking Read more [...]
Season 2, Episode 30 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and the way we always do at this point in the season--with a look at the injury report. The Steelers have a long list of injured players and with the bye week still a ways away, the team can ill-afford to lose too many more guys. The good news is that they came out of Sunday's win over the Titans relatively healthy with only Marcus Gilbert being added to the list. We go through who should play Sunday and who is unlikely to dress and what line-up changes will take place as a result. IF the Black & Gold can get through Sunday's game Read more [...]
Season 2, Episode 29 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I open with a look at the injury report as delivered by Mike Tomlin at his Tuesday press conference. This week's presser lacked some of the surprise of weeks past, which is a good thing if you are a Steelers fan. The only real injury to come out of Sunday's contest was the Marcus Gilbert re-injuring his right shoulder. Gilbert and a host of other Steelers are questionable for Sunday's contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars. We go through the list and try to read the tea leaves, giving our thoughts on who will play and who won't. The Read more [...]
Season 2, Episode 28 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd is back in the lead chair and we get right into the Steelers 38-17 win over the Tennessee Titans yesterday at Heinz Field. David was at the game and fills me in on the atmosphere at the game before we start breaking it all down. We talk extensively about the big spark that Chris Hoke, Max Starks and Isaac Redman provided yesterday and how the yardage gained by Redman was deceiving. We were both worried about Hoke after the first play from scrimmage, but he rebounded to have one of the best games of his career. We not the big return Read more [...]
Season 2, Episode 27 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd is not with me today due to prior commitments so I called on Nick Richetta to sit in with me tonight as we preview the Steelers upcoming week 5 game against the Tennessee Titans. Nick is no stranger to Steelers football as he helps out tremendously charting the offense of every Steelers game for me. He is a tremendous asset to the website. We open by looking at the Steelers Friday injury report and discuss the key players that will not play this week. I ask Nick what he has seen from the offense through the first 4 weeks of the Read more [...]
Season 2, Episode 26 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I spend most of the first half of the show talking about the MASH unit over at the Steelers South Side facility. The list is long and apparently getting longer as both Chris Kemoeatu and Casey Hampton have missed practice the past couple of days. We go through the entire list and talk about what position moves and roster moves need to be made for Sunday's match-up with the Tennessee Titans. Of course, the big move was announced yesterday as Max Starks was re-signed and the Steelers waived Chris Scott and subsequently signed him Read more [...]
Season 2, Episode 25 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd is back with me today. Apologies for the schedule change this week and we will be coming at you this Thursday and Friday as opposed to our normal Wednesday-Friday schedule. Thursday we expect to have Tennessee Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt as our guest. As it turns out, maybe we should wait until Tuesday every week because Mike Tomlin broke some big news today at his press conference on the South Side this afternoon. As you might imagine, Steeler breaking news on Tuesday is generally not good because it is almost always injury-related. Read more [...]

The Terrible Podcast – Steelers Texans Preview Episode

Season 2, Episode 24 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd is back with me today to do our normal preview of the upcoming Sunday game against the Houston Texans. We lead off with the Steelers injury report and the speculation that practice squad tackle Trevis Turner could be promoted to the active roster this weekend. We discuss who the Steelers might release should that indeed be the case. Chris Carter? Chris Scott? We then discuss the recent $15K fine that James Farrior received for his hit on Kerry Collins this past Sunday and how the league seems to be fining for every personal foul Read more [...]

Nick and I chat for 20 plus minutes about the upcoming week 4 game as the Steelers travel down to Houston and play the Texans on Sunday. I ask Nick about the week 3 loss to the Saints this past weekend to get things started and about the current injury situation after the Wednesday practice. We talk about the return of Arian Foster to the lineup and get his thoughts on the Texans on both sides Read more [...]

The Terrible Podcast – Texans Week Begins Episode

Season 2, Episode 22 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I try to put the Steelers 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts in perspective. The Patriots lost to the Bills, the Jets lost to the Raiders and the Chargers beat the Chiefs by four at home. While things weren't perfect in Indianapolis, the Steelers still got the W. From there we get to the injury report and it's a bit longer than we've seen so far this season. Mike Tomlin didn't have a lot of answers at his Tuesday press conference, but we share our thoughts on how things might play out on the offensive line and some other Read more [...]

The Terrible Podcast – Steelers Colts Recap Episode

Season 2, Episode 21 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I recap the Sunday night game. A win is a win is a win, but not always in the eyes of Steelers Nation. We get right to the Steelers 23-20 Sunday night win over the Peyton Manning-less Indianapolis Colts. We open with the early injury report coming out of the game. While a bunch of guys got dinged up, it appears that the ankle injury of Jonathan Scott may be the only one that costs playing time. We also review the active/inactive decisions and discuss the longer-term outlook for guys like Bryant McFadden and Jerricho Cotchery, Read more [...]

We thank Phil for the do-over as our Wednesday interview Read more [...]

The Terrible Podcast – Colts Week 3 Begins Episode

Season 2, Episode 19 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I delve right into the injury report. Ben Roethlisberger isn't on the list, but we open with a discussion of the latest news regarding his knee. We then speculate on the long-term future of both Chris Kemoeatu and Bryant McFadden due to their lingering issues. As David tweeted Sunday, it's not out of the realm of possibility that McFadden has made his last career start as a Steeler. This week could be telling if he is healthy. After a brief discussion of the Tuesday Mike Tomlin press conference and the Colts we review my article Read more [...]

The Terrible Podcast – Seahawks Game Recap Episode

Season 2, Episode 18 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I discuss the Steelers first win of the season, a 24-0 beating of an undermanned Seattle Seahawks team. We open by looking at the injury report, which appears to be pretty good after the Week 2 win. In breaking down the game we look first at the Steelers goal-line offense and whether a change in scheme or personnel needs to be made. On their first possession the Steelers couldn't punch it in on fourth down from the one, but they fared better the second time around when Rashard Mendenhall was able to score. With two new linemen Read more [...]

The Terrible Podcast – Seahawks Preview Episode

Season 2, Episode 17 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I open with a closer look at the supposed chop blocks in the Steelers Ravens game that have been a hot topic as of late and we clarify the actual rule. We both agree that these were dangerous blocks and think the NFL needs to live up to their views on player safety and look closely at the linemen and these types of blocks. We then give our thoughts on the $15K fine Troy Polamalu received for his horse-collar tackle this past Sunday in addition. Next we go full on and preview of the Steelers Seahawks game on both side of the Read more [...]
Season 2, Episode 16 of The Terrible Podcast is up and in Part 1 David Todd and I open with a look at the injury report, updating news on Jerricho Cotchery (bad), Chris Carter (good) and others. Of course Willie Colon isn't on that injury report because he is no longer on the Steelers 53-man roster. We thought the Steelers came out of Sunday's beating by the Ravens relatively healthy, but it turns out that wasn't the case. Colon tore his triceps late in the game and was placed on the IR by the Steelers Tuesday afternoon. We look at who the Steelers signed to fill his spot on the 53-man and discuss Read more [...]
Season 2, Episode 15 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and go over the 35-7 butt kicking the Steelers took at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens yesterday and explain how the Ravens were able to get it done. It is an early morning podcast, but we both agree that the Steelers pass rush was not good and that Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco was given plenty of time to hit Ray Rice and his young tight ends most of the game at will. Also Rice killed us on the ground. We take a look at the few players who were bright spots in the loss like Ike Taylor and talk about those that had bad showings. Read more [...]
Season 2, Episode 14 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I go after it hard and heavy as the Sunday game draws even closer. You want football talk? We've got football talk. Almost a full hour's worth. The NFL season kicked off last night and we start by taking a quick look at the Packers win over the Saints last night and how it relates to the current landscape of the game and more importantly to the Steelers. No teases in this podcast as David and I give our thoughts on the Baltimore Ravens game right up front and then go into the breakdown of the game on both sides of the ball. The Read more [...]
Season 2, Episode 13 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I get a great preview of the Baltimore Ravens from John Eisenberg of CSNBaltimore.com. John brings us up to date on everything that has happened with the Ravens from hatchet day when the team released Todd Heap, Derrick Mason, et al, right up to the Ravens practice on Wednesday. There is tons of back-and-forth and John provides some excellent insight into both the personnel groupings and formations we can expect to see from the Ravens on Sunday. This is one of the best team previews we've had, be sure to check it out. You can Read more [...]
