Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel told the media following the teams' 38-7 win against the Buffalo Bills Saturday night that the ankle injury that he suffered in the game is not a problem and that he expects to be ready for the season opener against Denver.
Keisel left the field in the first half and went to the locker room to be evaluated and did not return to the game. Head coach Mike Tomlin said during his post game press conference that the defensive end suffered a mild high ankle sprain and that they held him out as a precaution.
The injury to Keisel took place a short time

Pittsburgh Steelers left tackle Max Starks passed the first test Saturday night in the 38-7 preseason win over the Buffalo Bills by making it through the first half with his surgically repaired right knee on the bothersome field turf of Ralph Wilson Stadium. The second test, you ask? Make it through Sunday without his knee swelling.
Starks, who last played a down in the Steelers loss in the AFC Wild Card game last January, was asked how his knee was feeling following the game.
"Excellent, I feel excellent. No pain," Starks jokingly quipped.
"I felt really good out there," the tackle added

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau made it clear this past offseason that his defense must do a better job at forcing turnovers this year, and thus far through three preseason games they have not let him down.
Saturday night in the Steelers 38-7 win over the Buffalo Bills the LeBeau led defense recorded three takeaways in the form of two interceptions and fumble recovery, and all three led to touchdowns.
Linebacker Lawrence Timmons kick started the turnovers by stripping Bills running back C.J. Spiller of the football with 10:33 left in the first half. Ziggy Hood fell on the

While the official word on the right knee injury suffered by Pittsburgh Steelers rookie right guard David DeCastro Saturday night against the Buffalo Bills is not yet known, it would be anything short of a miracle if he is not lost for season. The early rumors are that the Steelers first round draft pick tore both the ACL and the MCL in his knee after it got caught underneath him while pass blocking on the Steelers second possession.
With DeCastro now likely out for the year, the Steelers will once again turn to Ramon Foster to fill the void. Foster, who signed a one-year restricted free agent

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown overcame two early drops on his way to catching 7 balls for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Steelers rolled past the Buffalo Bills 38-7 Saturday night in their third preseason game of the 2012 season.
The win did not come without a cost, however, as the Steelers might have now lost rookie right guard David DeCastro for the season with what head coach Mike Tomlin called a potentially severe right knee injury after the game. DeCastro injured the knee on the Steelers second offensive possession deep in their own end.
The Steelers first round

The Pittsburgh Steelers have until 4 p.m. ET Monday, Aug. 27 to trim their roster down to 75 players and that means that tonight in Buffalo against the Buffalo Bills it will be the last time that 15 players currently on the 90 man roster get to wear a Steelers jersey.
The Steelers will likely begin the process of releasing some players on Sunday as the fate of several of them have already been easily decided. Based on our weekly participation reports from the first two preseason games, it is not too hard to deduct who several of these players might be, so I have included a list below of 20 players

The Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Buffalo Bills tonight at Ralph Wilson Stadium and below are 5 key matchups to watch in the Steelers third preseason game of the 2012 season.
Marcus Gilbert Versus Mario Williams - It appears that Mario Williams has been playing on the left side since arriving in Buffalo and not on the right as I originally thought. That means that Marcus Gilbert will the draw the straw of defending the former first overall draft pick. Last week Gilbert started at left tackle to show his position flexibility and now with Max Starks ready to start at left tackle, Gilbert will

Back on May 10th, I addressed the issue of the Pittsburgh Steelers kicking situation, and I proposed that the Steelers should take a chance on kicker Grant Ressel, who was signed as an undrafted free agent from the University of Missouri. Ressel boasted impressive numbers from his collegiate career, and while Shaun Suisham had been serviceable during his time with the Steelers, he hadn’t necessarily been reliable, or automatic.
In 2002, the Steelers took a chance on the eccentric Jeff Reed, and it ultimately worked out well for the team for several years. While Reed is long gone,

Season 3, Episode 8 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and start by talking about the firing of Pittsburgh Steelers special teams coach Al Everest on Thursday, and after going over stats from the last two seasons and reviewing what has happened thus far in two preseason games, we conclude there is likely more to the story. We recorded this early on Friday and since then Everest has come out to say that he was fired for professional differences.
We move on to talk about a few players that will not travel with the team to Buffalo for the the third preseason game against Saturday

Below are the defensive player play counts and participation chart for the Pittsburgh Steelers week 2 preseason game loss on Thursday against the Indianapolis Colts along with a few observations I made.
Player Notes:
All of the main first team players saw 28 snaps and of course that was about as expected. Cortez Allen worked strictly in the nickel. Mortty Ivy saw snaps at both outside spots which leads me to believe they are giving him serious consideration of keeping him on the 53 man roster. Brandon Johnson worked strictly inside with Stevenson Sylvester out with his knee injury. Terrence

The Pittsburgh Steelers fired special teams coach Al Everest on Thursday and replaced him with assistant special teams coach Amos Jones. While we don't know the real reason as to why Everest was let go, we can only assume that it might have been performance related until we hear otherwise.
Everest was hired by the Steelers after Bob Ligashesky was fired following the 2009 season that saw the Steelers rank 23rd in punt return average allowed (9.8) and 27th in kickoff return average allowed (24.3). That season also saw the Steelers allow an NFL-high four kickoff return touchdowns in a five-game

Some very good news on the injury front as Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Friday morning that Pittsburgh Steelers running back Isaac Redman will play Saturday night against the Buffalo Bills after making it through a full week of practice.
"I'm anxious to get out there," Redman said via the report by Fittipaldo. "I want to get out there and play and give it my all."
Redman was forced to sit out the Steelers second preseason game Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts with a hip injury. The injury was first believed to be a groin problem, but an MRI performed last
