Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Thursday during his press conference that 4th string quarterback Jerrod Johnson is unlikely to play Saturday night against the Buffalo Bills.
Tomlin said that the Texas A&M product "probably got the short straw this week", when he was asked about the quarterback rotation that the team plans to use in its preseason tune-up game in Buffalo.
Johnson looked much more comfortable this past Sunday night in the Steelers second preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts as he was 4-for-5 passing for 65 yards in two series worth of work. The quarterback

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Thursday during his press conference that running back Jason Ford (hamstring) will not travel with the team Saturday night for the third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.
As expected, running back Rashard Mendenhall (knee) also will not travel as he was just removed from the PUP list last Friday and is several weeks away from being ready for game action. Running back Isaac Redman is rumored to be feeling better as he continues to recover from a hip injury, and with his status for the game

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin held his press conference on Thursday to talk about the upcoming preseason game Saturday night against the Buffalo Bills and below is the audio along with the talking points.
Tomlin said that the starters on both offense and defense will play at least a half against the Bills and that he would see where it goes from there.
As far is injured players go, Tomlin said that running back Jason Ford (hamstring), linebacker James Harrison (knee), running back Rashard Mendenhall (knee) and linebacker Stevenson Sylvester (knee) all will not make the trip to

You can tell that the Pittsburgh Steelers 2012 season is ever so close because the worrying is ramping up about whether or not a player or players that the Steelers might waive during the final cut down will make it to the practice squad.
What most fail to recognize is that 31 other teams also have tough cuts to make and their fans are nervous Nellies about one or two players on their current roster that possibly might be claimed off waivers and signed to a 53 man roster of another team.
Now I am as impressed with both linebacker Adrian Robinson and safety Robert Golden as the next person.

The Pittsburgh Steelers second preseason game is now in the books and once again it is time to take another stab at a 53 man roster prediction.
Before you just jump straight to the comments, make sure to read my reasoning so you know where am I coming from on this prediction.
Two things that have really shaken things up this time around is the removal of running back Rashard Mendenhall from the PUP list and the knee injury suffered by Stevenson Sylvester. When you add both of those instances to the fact that we still do not know for sure what the status of linebackers James Harrison and Jason

If you heard the NBC broadcast of the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday night game against the Indianapolis Colts, you likely heard Cris Collinsworth talk about what head coach Mike Tomlin told him about undrafted free agent linebacker Adrian Robinson.
Collinsworth said that when he asked Tomlin about Robinson, who had solid first preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Steelers coach described the Temple product as a one-trick pony that gets up the field, can rush the passer, but doesn't play special teams and doesn't drop.
As you can imagine, those comments made their way back to Robinson

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark is always gives an entertaining interview and such was the case Wednesday morning when he appeared on the morning show NFL AM.
During the interview Clark was asked by Eric Davis how much he hates the Baltimore Ravens. The response Clark gave was a pretty humorous one as he starts by saying that he doesn't hate them, but that he certainly has taken note of their actions the last several games the Steelers have played them.
"I get that question a lot and I don’t really hate them," Clark told Davis. "I was working out with Terrell Suggs this summer before

Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Wednesday via Twitter that linebacker Stevenson Sylvester was off limits to the media today and that he was told not to discuss his knee injury. Sylvester did say that he hurt his knee during Saturday's "walkthrough" at St. Vincent College, according to Mark Kaboly.

On Sunday it was reported by Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that Sylvester had torn the medial collateral ligament in his knee and that he could be sidelined three to four weeks as a result. Head coach

According to both Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and Tim Benz of 105.9 The X, Pittsburgh Steelers nose tackle Casey Hampton recently had his left elbow "fixed". Hampton is currently wearing a cast of some sorts and still expects to be ready for the season opener against the Denver Broncos.
The veteran nose tackle reportedly wouldn't say what kind of procedure he had performed on the elbow. The good news that he offered up is that he said that his surgically repaired knee is fine.
Hampton was removed from the Steelers Active PUP list this past Friday and it is now looking like

Below are my offensive line grades and breakdown of the Pittsburgh Steelers 26-24 preseason game win Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts. I always like to disclaimer that not knowing the exact play call and assignments on each play makes it tough, especially with the normal TV angles. The All-22 look is not available until the regular season begins and that will make grading the offensive line and every other position much easier at that point. Each lineman on each and every play is watched 5 times at least and sometimes more.
I am working on an new grading system that I hope to debut

It will not be surprising if we haven't heard the least of the decision made Sunday night by the Pittsburgh Steelers that allowed running back Chris Rainey to return to game against the Indianapolis Colts after he suffered an apparent head injury.
Rainey took a shot to the head early in the game from Colts cornerback Jerraud Powers and had to go to the locker-room to be tested for a possible concussion. Ralph Paul of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports today that Rainey told him that he begged the medical staff to clear him to return after he reportedly passed all of the concussion administered

Some good news on the injury front at the running back position for the Pittsburgh Steelers as Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review informed me this evening that running back Isaac Redman was indeed back at practice today and worked fully.
Earlier in the day I speculated on a report made by Alan Robinson that Redman might be sidelined again this week because of his hip injury, but it appears that Redman is healthy enough now to throw his hat in the ring for the Steelers tune-up game Saturday against the Buffalo Bills.
Maybe it should not be too big of a surprise as Redman did say

The Pittsburgh Steelers were back on the practice fields Tuesday at their facility and head coach Mike Tomlin told the media after practice that linebacker Stevenson Sylvester (knee) has had a minor procedure done now on his knee.
“He got hurt either Friday or Saturday in Latrobe,” said Tomlin. “We’re taking it day-to-day. He had a minor procedure on his knee. He can definitely be characterized as questionable. If we were determining status for this week, which we aren’t, you could say he’d be questionable at best.”
It was reported by Gerry Dulac on Sunday that Sylvester had

Season 3, Episode 7 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and start by recapping all of the news since the last episode. That includes us talking about the decision the Pittsburgh Steelers made to remove Rashard Mendenhall and Casey Hampton from the PUP list on Friday.
We move on to recap the current injury situation as it stands on Tuesday and that means talking about James Harrison, Jason Worilds, Stevenson Sylvester and Isaac Redman specifically and what it could do to the 53 man roster. Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Tuesday via Twitter that Pittsburgh Steelers running back Isaac Redman said today that the MRI that he had last week revealed that the injury that currently has him out of action is to his hip and not his groin. Robinson reports that Redman said that he is getting better every day.
Redman now figures to be limited to working on the side this week at practice and it seems unlikely at this point that he will play in the third preseason game this coming Saturday against the Buffalo Bills.
The injury is rumored to have been bothering Redman

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison told the media on Tuesday that he still expects that he will be ready to play in season opener against Denver Broncos.
Harrison had a minor scope procedure performed last week on his left knee which was rumored to have involved removing a bone spur from behind his knee cap. He has not practiced since the first week of offseason OTA's and he has been on the Steelers Active PUP list since training camp opened.
Despite missing so much time, Harrison said on Tuesday that he will likely need to practice at least a few times before being cleared to

Wallace Watch is now in full bloom after Mike Bires of the Beaver County Times reported Tuesday morning that a source told him that Pittsburgh Steelers restricted free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace is now back in Pittsburgh.
Although Wallace has not been seen yet at Steelers facility, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette now reports that several sources have told him that Wallace will report and sign his one-year restricted tender after the team returns from their third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills this upcoming weekend.
Should that indeed be the "soon" date we have

Max Starks is back! Well, he has been back for some time now, but Dale Lolley reports via Twitter that the Pittsburgh Steelers tackle will work with first team offense today as the team resumes practices following their 26-24 preseason win Sunday night over the Indianapolis Colts.
Starks, who thanks to the new CBA rules was unable to practice in pads until this past Friday after being activated from the PUP list earlier in the week, is the odds on favorite to be the starting left tackle when the season begins in Denver.
Although Starks has yet to play a preseason down as of yet, he has easily
