Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jonathan Dwyer is not taking any chances in free agency as the former sixth-round draft pick out of Georgia Tech has already signed his $1.323 million one-year restricted tender given to him over the weekend, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN on Twitter.
Dwyer was one of four soon-to-be restricted free agents that were issued tenders, with running back Isaac Redman, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and nose tackle Steve McLendon being the other three.

According to ESPN.com, the Pittsburgh Steelers issued their restricted tenders on Saturday.
Running back Jonathan Dwyer, running back Isaac Redman, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and nose tackle Steve McLendon all received $1.323 million tenders.
Dwyer and Sanders were issued original round tenders. That means the Steelers would receive compensation of a draft pick that corresponds with the round that each was originally drafted should either wind up signing with another team. The Pittsburgh Steelers have released veteran linebacker James Harrison on Saturday.
Harrison, who had two years left on his contract, was scheduled to make $6.57 million in 2013 and $7.575 million in 2014. His release will clear $5.105 million in cap prior to displacement in the top 51 salaries on the team.
Harrison was originally signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2002 out of Kent State. He was released prior to the start of that season and signed to practice squad, where he stayed until he was promoted to the 53 man roster at the end of the season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers officially announced on Monday that they have signed free agent cornerback William Gay to a three-year contract.
The length of the contract, more than the one-year deal that I was expecting, is a bit of a surprise, but I wouldn't read too much into the length of the deal as the signing bonus will tell us everything that we need to know. I expect that to be $1 million or less, which should but the first year cap hit for Gay at right around $1 million. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less.

The Pittsburgh Steelers officially severed ties on Monday with one of their 2012 draft picks as running back Chris Rainey was officially waived, according to Bob Labriola on Twitter.
The Steelers announced back on January 10 that the Florida product would be waived following his simple battery arrest earlier that day down in Gainesville, Florida. NFL rules, however, prevented the Steelers from officially waiving him until after the Super Bowl.

The Pittsburgh Steelers added another player to their offseason roster on Monday as it was announced that wide receiver Kashif Moore has been signed to a reserve/future contract for the 2013 season.
Moore was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cincinnati Bengals out of University of Connecticut following the 2012 draft. The Bengals, however, released him after training camp and just prior to the start of the 2012 season. Moore then spent parts of the 2012 regular season on the practice squads of the Houston Texans, San Diego Chargers and Indianapolis Colts.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed cornerback Justin King to a one-year contract on Wednesday, according to Bob Labriola on Twitter.
King ended the season on the Steelers 53 man roster after being signed in the middle of December after DeMarcus Van Dyke suffered a shoulder injury that would end his season.
King is a Pittsburgh native and a graduate of Gateway High and was originally drafted in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams after playing his college ball at Penn State.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed two more players to their offseason roster on Friday as Bob Labriola reports that kicker Danny Hrapmann and tight end Zack Pianalto were signed to reserve future contracts.
Hrapmann, a product of Southern Mississippi, was with the Steelers last offseason and 6 for 6 on his attempts during the 2012 preseason with a long of 43. He kicked the 22 yard game-winning field goal with 20 seconds left against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Pittsburgh Steelers waived running back Chris Rainey on Thursday following his arrest for a domestic battery incident in Gainesville, Fla.
“Chris Rainey’s actions this morning were extremely disappointing,” Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert said. “Under the circumstances and due to this conduct, Chris will no longer be a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.”

The Pittsburgh Steelers have added yet another player to their offseason roster on Wednesday as linebacker Brian Rolle has been signed on to a reserve/future contact.
Rolle was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, where he was a two-year starter at middle linebacker.
During his rookie season Rolle started 13 games for the Eagles and recorded 63 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble. In 2012 Rolle played in the first four games with the Eagles before being released on Oct. 2 after recording only 4 tackles.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made another offseason signing on Friday as linebacker Kion Wilson was signed to a reserve/future contract, according to a source.
Wilson was originally signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent following the 2010 drat after playing his college ball at the University of South Florida.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are starting to expand their offseason roster now as it was announced on Wednesday that safety Ross Ventrone, tackle Joe Long, guard Justin Cheadle, wide receiver Derek Moye, wide receiver Bert Reed and cornerback Isaiah Green have all been signed to reserve/future contracts.
Long, Cheadle, Moye, Reed and Green all ended the season on the Steelers practice squad while Ventrone was a free agent after being bounced on and off the New England patriots 53 man roster and practice squad several times over the course of the last three years.

The Pittsburgh Steelers filled the 53rd spot on the roster on Saturday by claiming nose tackle Hebron Fangupo off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.
Fangupo was originally signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent this season after playing his college ball at Southern California and Brigham Young after serving a two-year Mormon mission in Philippines.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a couple of roster moves on Friday as wide receiver David Gilreath and nose tackle Alameda Ta'amu were signed off of the practice squad.
In addition to those moves the Steelers placed wide receiver Mike Wallace, tackle Mike Adams and cornerback Curtis Brown on injured reserve.
Wallace, Adams and Brown had all been ruled out for the season finale on Friday with injuries.

The injuries in the Pittsburgh Steelers secondary forced the team, to make a roster move on Tuesday as veteran cornerback Justin King was signed to the 53 man roster.
King, a Penn State product, had worked out for the Steelers a few weeks ago after Ike Taylor suffered his right ankle injury.
King was originally drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the fourth round of the 2008 draft and played for the Indianapolis Colts earlier this season prior to his release.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall has been reinstated to the team on Monday following his one week suspension for conduct detrimental to the team. Upon his reinstatement the team asked for and received a 24 hour roster exemption which means that they now have until 4:00 p.m. Tuesday to make a corresponding roster move to make room for him.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Wednesday that they have signed back wide receivers David Gilreath and Derek Moye to practice squad along with cornerback Isaiah Green. Wide receiver Bert Reed was released to make room.
The team had two open spots on the practice squad after cornerback Josh Victorian was promoted this past Saturday and running back Baron Batch was promoted on Tuesday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have suspended running back Rashard Mendenhall for one game for conduct detrimental to the team according to steelers.com. Baron Batch has been promoted from the practice squad to replace him on the 53 man roster.
Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Mendenhall was suspended because he failed to show up at Heinz Field for the game against the San Diego Chargers after being told he would not dress for the game.

The Pittsburgh Steelers now have quarterback Ben Roethlisberger back somewhat healthy and with cornerback Ike Taylor now sidelined indefinitely with an ankle injury, the team decided to waive quarterback Brian Hoyer on Saturday and promote cornerback Josh Victorian from the practice squad to take his spot on the 53 man roster.
Hoyer served as the backup quarterback for the last two games after Byron Leftwich injured his ribs in the loss to the Baltimore Ravens back in Week 11. His stay on the roster was expected to be a short one.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a practice squad roster move on Tuesday as it was announced that cornerback Josh Victorian has been brought back and that wide receiver Derrick Moye was released to make room for him.
The Steelers needed Victorian back because the fractured ankle suffered by Ike Taylor early in the win over the Baltimore Ravens has thinned the depth. Taylor is expected to be sidelined at least two weeks and maybe longer.
