The Pittsburgh Steelers have selected Syracuse safety Shamarko Thomas with their fourth round pick of the 2013 NFL draft. The Steelers traded their No. 3 pick in '14 for the 111st pick in this draft.

Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network is reporting Saturday morning on Twitter that the Pittsburgh Steelers are trying to trade running back Jonathan Dwyer.
Dwyer, the Steelers sixth-round draft pick in 2010, is considered to be the more marketable running back on the roster currently, but is also only under contract for 2013 after signing a one-year restricted tender in the amount of $1.323 million.

The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Michigan State running back Le'Veon Bell in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft on Friday and they also signed free agent running back LaRod Stephens-Howling to the roster earlier in the day. With both players being known for their pass catching abilities, Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley was asked on 970 ESPN Radio following the selection of Bell if he was planning to use his running backs more out of the backfield in 2013.

By now, you all are pretty well aware how enamored I am with Ohio State linebacker John Simon and Penn State linebacker Michael Mauti, and I am hoping that at least one of them is a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers by the time the day is done.
As far as Mauti goes, I don't think that I need to explain his situation again. He might even go undrafted thanks to all of the knee injuries that he has suffered. If he can make it back and eventually play the BUCK position, that would be great. If he can't, that's how it goes.

The third and final day of the 2013 NFL draft is here, and being as you all have done so well with these open discussion post (you crashed the server twice on Friday), we will do it for the final four rounds of the draft, which should move pretty quickly.

On the second day of the 2013 NFL draft the Pittsburgh Steelers were in search of a running back and with their second round pick, the 48th overall, they chose to bypass Alabama running back Eddie Lacy, who many considered to be the best in this years' class, to select Michigan State running back Le'Veon Bell instead.
Once the selection was made, a good portion of the Steelers fan base went into a tirade, as they couldn't fathom why such a decision was made to not only take Bell over Lacy, but also, in their opinion, reach for him a round earlier than they could have had him.

Day two of the 2013 NFL draft is now in the books and it is now time to look ahead to the final day and speculate who the Pittsburgh Steelers might be targeting in the final four rounds.
With the outside linebacker, running back and wide receiver positions already addressed in the first three rounds, the Steelers could likely add a safety, inside linebacker, defensive end, guard, cornerback, tight end or even quarterback on day three. Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert never likes to refer to drafted players as needs. Instead, he likes to call them wants. On Friday, it is quite obvious that needs is indeed the correct word to use as the Steelers drafted Michigan State running back Le'Veon Bell in round two of the 2013 NFL draft and Oregon State wide receiver Markus Wheaton in the third round.

According to several media reports, the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Arizona Cardinals running back LaRod Stephens-Howling to a one-year deal on Friday.
Stephens-Howling visited with the Steelers earlier this month, but was not signed.
In his four seasons with the Cardinals, the Pittsburgh product rushed for 651 yards and five touchdowns on 182 carries. He also registered 534 more yards and three touchdowns on 56 receptions, and another 4,067 yards and three touchdowns on 163 kickoff returns.

Following the 2013 NFL combine, Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN, and several others for that matter, had Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones atop their prospect rankings. These rankings were also released after Jones had been poked and prodded by every team doctor who wanted to check out his the spinal stenosis in Indianapolis. In a matter of two months time, Jones found himself still on the board come time for the Pittsburgh Steelers to select the 17th pick of the first round of the 2013 NFL draft.

Are you ready to buy a Jarvis Jones jersey? If so, it appears that the Pittsburgh Steelers first round draft pick out of Georgia will wear No.91, the same number that the great Aaron Smith wore for so many years, according to the team website.
Many have speculated since his selection Thursday night, that because Jones wore No.29 in college, that he would likely ask for No.92, which of course was most recently worn by outside linebacker James Harrison, whom Jones will be measured against moving forward in his Steelers career.

According to a Friday report on Pro Football Talk, a source has indicated that free agent running back Ahmad Bradshaw has received full medical clearance to resume all football activities after having surgery on his right foot back in January.
Bradshaw visited with the Pittsburgh Steelers several weeks ago, and while there were reports that he would visit again just prior to the 2013 NFL draft, there has been no indication that he has.

As expected, people are already speculating how the Pittsburgh Steelers will use outside linebacker Jarvis Jones on defense during his rookie season. For those of you that think Jones will see the field much on defense baring an injury, shame on you, as it is well known that rookie linebackers in Pittsburgh not named Kendrell Bell generally only play on special teams. If they are ready to see a little action by the end of the season or late in blowouts, consider that a blessing.

Earlier in the week, Pittsburgh Steelers newest linebacker Jarvis Jones was on SiriusXM NFL Radio talking about the upcoming draft and revealed that he has been working out with renown trainer Tom Shaw down in Florida at the Wide World of Sports complex.
Shaw, as many of you should be well aware of by now, has trained Steelers cornerbacks Ike Taylor and William Gay for years now. Fellow cornerback Cortez Allen is even a client now of Shaw's as well.

Now that the first round of the 2013 NFL draft is in the books, it is time look ahead to day two and who the Pittsburgh Steelers might consider drafting in rounds two and three on Friday.
The selection of Georgia outside linebacker Jarvis Jones now means that we can safely scratch that position off of the needs list. The Steelers are expected to draft a wide receiver and a running back at some point during the draft, and I suspect at least one of those positions, if not both, are addressed in the next two rounds.

Now that the Pittsburgh Steelers have selected Georgia outside linebacker Jarvis Jones with the 17th overall pick in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft, let's look ahead to what this means to starters LaMarr Woodley and Jason Worilds.
As far as Woodley goes, it means absolutely nothing. His contract was restructured again this offseason, and baring a serious injury, or another huge drop in production, he will remain in Pittsburgh at least through the 2014 season.
