The Pittsburgh Steelers signed veteran punter Brian Moorman to their 90 man roster on Tuesday and the details of the contract are now in.
Moorman signed a one-year qualifying contract with a base salary of $940,000 and the deal included no signing bonus. Being as it was a qualifying contract, the cap charge for Moorman will be $555,000.
Thanks to displacement in the Rule of 51, the signing of Moorman only used up $75,000 in additional cap space. This leaves the Steelers with approximately $392,427.00 in cap room until June when at that time they will get an additional $5 million plus in cap

The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Illinois cornerback Terry Hawthorne in the fifth-round of the 2013 NFL draft and below is my breakdown and grade of the pick.

The ink from the 2013 NFL draft is barely dry and already the projections for the 2014 NFL draft are already coming out. Draft analyst Rob Rang of CBS Sports has now released his first round mock draft for 2014 and he has the Pittsburgh Steelers selecting Washington tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins with the 14th overall selection.
Seferian-Jenkins is considered by Rang to be the top tight end in the 2014 class, but it should be noted that the 6-6, 267-pounder was arrested in early April and charged with a misdemeanor DUI. What is about those Washington players drinking and driving?

The 2013 NFL draft is now behind us and the nine Pittsburgh Steelers draft picks will be present for rookie camp this coming weekend in Pittsburgh. Now that things have settled down, here is my look at what I expect this upcoming season for every member of the Steelers 2013 draft class.

As I dig deeper into the Pittsburgh Steelers 2013 draft class, I am really starting to drift towards liking the selection of Illinois cornerback Terry Hawthorne, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL draft, the most.
For starters, you can't help but like Hawthorne's 4.31 speed, and even though he is a hair under six foot tall, he is chiseled and looks every bit of an NFL cornerback. In addition to playing cornerback, he also can return punts and kicks, and can even play wide receiver in a pinch.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a roster move on Tuesday when they signed veteran punter Brian Moorman to compete in training camp with second-year punter Drew Butler. To make room for Moorman on the 90 man roster, wide receiver Bert Reed was waived.
Moorman, who was with the Dallas Cowboys just last season, spent his first 12 years in the league with the Buffalo Bills. He has twice been named an All-Pro punter and has made two Pro-Bowl teams. The Bills also named him to the their 50th anniversary team.

On Monday, we passed along the updated odds from Bovada of every team possibly winning Super Bowl XLVIII and today the sports betting website has released some individual player prop over/unders in addition, with one Pittsburgh Steelers rookie really having an eye popping number.
According to the website, Steelers first-round draft pick, linebacker Jarvis Jones, has an over/under number of 8.5 total sacks for his rookie season.
Considering that a Steelers defensive rookie hasn't opened the season as starter since linebacker Kendrell Bell did it in 2001, that is a pretty high over/under number

The second phase of the offseason workouts for the Pittsburgh Steelers got underway on Monday as coaches are now permitted to work with the players for individual instruction and position drills. In addition, this the first time that coaches can also hold short position meetings with players. In phase one of the offseason program, players were limited to just strength and conditioning workouts only outside of quarterbacks being allowed to throw to uncovered receivers.

It is hard to read very much into the latest offensive depth chart on the official website of the Pittsburgh Steelers, but we will dissect it nonetheless.
For starters, Mike Adams is listed as the top right tackle as well as the backup at left tackle behind an empty spot. Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert was a guest Monday morning on 93.7 The Fan and he talked about the top three draft picks that the team made this past weekend in the 2013 NFL draft. The Pittsburgh Steelers selected nine players in the 2013 NFL draft and signed 15 more as undrafted free agents immediately after it concluded, and of those 24 total players, not a one of them plays tight end.
Judging by the Steelers decision to not add to the position group over the course of the weekend, one can easily speculate that this bodes well for veteran tight end Heath Miller, who pulled off the torn ligament trifecta late last season in the game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Now that big moves in free agency have been made and the 2013 NFL draft is behind us, the sports betting website Bovada has updated their odds to win Super Bowl XLVIII.

Early on Monday, an article in the upcoming issue of Sports Illustrated broke the news of NBA player Jason Collins announcing that he's gay, and as you can imagine, the story has created quite a buzz on the social media sites.
Taking part in the buzz is Miami Dolphins wide receiver Mike Wallace, who left the Pittsburgh Steelers via free agency earlier in the offseason after his rookie contract expired.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN on Twitter, free agent tackle Winston Justice is visiting with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday and is also scheduled to visit with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers came to terms with free agent running back LaRod Stephens-Howling over the weekend and the contract details are as follows.
The former seventh-round draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals signed a one-year qualifying contract with the Steelers that includes a base salary of 715,000 and a $65,000 signing bonus. Being as it was a qualifying contract, the discounted cap hit for Stephens-Howling will be $620,000 in 2013.
