Limas Sweed joined the action on day one of the on field OTA practice session yesterday. He released a statement first thanking the Steelers for their support as he dealt with some personal issues. The personal issues have still not yet been disclosed and Sweed did not talk to reporters after practice. Gerry Dulac points out that Sweed could battle a 5th round pick this year for the #5 receiver spot on the 53 man roster. Sweed also is wearing #80 now instead of #14.
Wide receiver Hines Ward was the one notable no-show yesterday at the OTA practice, while nose tackle Casey Hampton looks in great

The Steelers will announce on Thursday afternoon that unrestricted free agent defensive end Nick Eason has re-signed with the team. Eason started five games in 2009 for the Steelers when starter Aaron Smith went down with injury. Eason's agent David Wyatt said Wednesday night, "He wanted to stay in Pittsburgh because of his love of the city and the team." Eason visited the Arizona Cardinals this offseason, but did not receive an offer. Eason turns 30 in May and will compete for a roster spot in training camp.

Judging by this article in the Tribune-Review this morning, the Orlando Police department will write a report for the March 7th incident between Santonio Holmes and Anshonone Mills. The article also has the transgression of events that happened that night.
Santonio told ESPN's Rachel Nichols that he "didn't do anything" and expects the matter to be dealt with quickly. This will likely cost Holmes an out of court payoff, but that is speculation on my part. Mills is seeking more than $15,000 in damages from Holmes and I bet she gets that and more.

Since being offered the second-highest tender to restricted free agent, the agent for Steelers right tackle Willie Colon, is posturing for a team to trade for or sign Colon away at a higher price tag than the tender of $2.521 million. You can't blame Joe Linta for trying, it is his job, but this is not likely to happen.
Not much is going on with free agent safety Ryan Clark with the clock ticking down. Clark's agent, Joel Turner, told National Football Post that, "Right now, communication is open. We've agreed to stay in touch. Neither party has shut the door." Sounds like the Steelers think

A big thumbs up to all that supported Steelers Depot in the 2010 Pittsburgh Sports Blog Tournament. I think we surprised a ton of folks by making it to the final 4. Hell, I was ecstatic to make it to the Sweet 16. Never under estimate the power of Twitter and Facebook. We have dedicated readers in Mexico and Germany to my amazement. I doubt we will sneak in as a #8 seed next year. Hopefully next year we can make it to the finals. Thanks for everyone's Tweets and emails. You can see the Finals here and vote.

Head coach Mike Tomlin said on Thursday that second-year receiver Limas Sweed does not have the inside track on the No. 3 wide receiver spot and in fact said the No. 3 receiver job vacated by Nate Washington is wide open. When asked who else is in the mix, Tomlin said, "All the guys other than Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes."
