ESPN reporter Adam Schefter tweeted Sunday morning that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is considering a one or two game suspension for Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison after Thursday night helmet-to-helmet hit on Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy.
Harrison hit McCoy in the fourth quarter just after McCoy released a pass after first tucking the ball under his arm and attempting to scramble outside the tackle box. Harrison hit McCoy helmet to facemask and the hit knocked McCoy off his feet and out of the game for two plays. Harrison justified his hit as legal after the game

It is dangerous to look ahead and past the Cleveland Browns this week to see how some recent injury news might affect the Steelers down the road. Who am I kidding, we play the Browns this week. Sure we can look ahead.
The San Francisco 49ers took a pretty big hit to their defense this week as middle linebacker Patrick Willis reportedly suffered a Grade II hamstring strain this past Sunday against the St. Louis Rams. Adam Schefter reported on ESPN that Willis "could miss a little time" with the injury. The 49ers play the Arizona Cardinals in week 13 and while his status is unclear right now for

The fines continue to roll in from the Steelers Ravens game Sunday night as just after it was announced that Steelers free safety Ryan Clark had been fined $40K for his hit on Ravens tight end Ed Dickson, WNST radio in Baltimore reported that Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis has also been fined for his early second quarter helmet-to-helmet hit on Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward. Ward was down for some time following the hit and had to be helped off the field because of concussion-like symptoms and did not return to the game. Lewis was not flagged on the play and you can see a picture of the initially

Mark Kaboly is reporting via Twitter that Steelers free safety Ryan Clark has been fine $40K this week for a hit or perhaps even two in the game this past Sunday night against the Ravens. This makes the second consecutive game that Clark has been fined for as he was docked $15K for an out of bounds hit on Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski the week before. Kaboly also reports that Clark is not very happy about the fine and Clark even said in a radio interview Tuesday night that he has no intentions in sitting down with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss anything should he end up being fined.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported tonight during halftime of the Eagles Bears Monday night football game that Steelers linebacker James Harrison will likely join teammate Ryan Clark and Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis as players that might be fined for hits during the Steelers Ravens Sunday night game.
I detailed the hits by both Clark and Lewis last night, but it was not until tonight that I decided to go back and look at the tape again to see the hit that Schefter was referencing in his report. The hit in question happened with 8:36 left in the third quarter after Ravens running back Ray

Adam Shefter is reporting via Twitter that the Steelers will sign free agent wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery today to a a one-year contract. Cotchery was released by the Jets following the lockout and made a visit to Latrobe this past weekend. Cotchery left without a contract and visited with the Ravens just days ago. It was reported that the Ravens did not have serious interest in signing him however.
Cotchery passed his physical during his visit with the Steelers after he reportedly had a microdiscetomy about five months ago. During that surgery Cotchery had part of a herniated disc in his

Steeler Nation is panicking this morning over the tweet by Adam Schefter that the Steelers are still roughly $11 million over the salary cap. The reason why that number is so high is presumably because the Steelers have not made the restructures official of players like Ben Roethlisberger, James Harrison, Chris Kemoeatu, Brett Keisel and Heath Miller. Had these players signed their restructures, they would not have been allowed to practice until the proposed date of the new ratified CBA, which is still scheduled to take place today at some point.
In addition, the only re-signings the Steelers

Steelers unrestricted free agent cornerback Ike Taylor will not make to market as Adam Schefter is reporting via Twitter that he will likely end his career in Pittsburgh after agreeing to a new 4 year contract. Details of the contract are unavailable right now, but it means that Taylor is signed through the 2014 season. More info on the deal as I get it. Taylor will not officially be able to sign his contract until 6 p.m. on Friday per the new labor rules and will not be able to practice until Aug. 4 due to the stipulations of free agent signings. He is currently entering his 9th season with Steelers

Maurkice Pouncey and twin brother Mike Pouncey were all over ESPN on Tuesday and you can watch one of the interviews below with them and listen to the radio interview on the Scott Van Pelt Show. Maurkice thinks the team will get past the off field incidents quickly.
Safety Ryan Clark joined 93.7 The Fan for his weekly spot in which he talked mostly about linebacker James Harrison and his comments made in Men's Journal and how he is the most feared player in the league.
Adam Schefter says the NFLPA will debrief both the lead and alternate player representatives from each team on the proposed

ESPN reporter Adam Schefter is reporting via Twitter that Steelers linebacker James Harrison has talked to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger today to explain his comments in the upcoming issue of Men’s Journal. Schefter cites that former Steelers running back Merril Hoge, a close confidant of Roethlisberger's, told him that the phone call took place and that Harrison claimed that the article writer, Paul Solotaroff, twisted many of his comments and that it was not the intention of Harrison to criticize Roethlisberger. In addition, Roethlisberger reportedly told Hoge that he is taking Harrison at

The Terrible Podcast is up and in this episode David Todd and I do our best to avoid the labor situation all together. Nothing new there, so nothing to talk about. There was, however, some news from Adam Schefter regarding free agency. Players in their fifth and sixth seasons will be unrestricted free agents going forward and we take a look at who that impacts on this current Steelers team.
With Plaxico Burress and Tiki Barber both being tied to the Steelers again in recent rumors, we discuss whether either player would actually be a good fit for the team if the Steelers were in fact interested

Ben Roethlisberger says he’s been in frequent contact with Plaxico Burress since Burress was released from prison earlier this month, and he’s excited about what Burress can do when he returns to the football field. “I’ve talked to Plax a number of times in the last couple of weeks,” Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “I told him, ‘Hey, if you came back here that would be awesome, but I’m just happy to see you playing again’ because he’s a good guy.”
Bob Pompeani caught up with Roethlisberger and Brett Keisel on day two of the Roethlisberger annual football

ESPN reporter Adam Schefter reported earlier today that unsigned players with four or more accrued seasons are expected to become unrestricted free agents in the next collective bargaining agreement. If that indeed is the case, tackle Willie Colon, tight end Matt Spaeth, cornerback William Gay and punter Daniel Sepulveda will all likely be considered unrestricted free agents.
The Steelers tendered all four players prior to the lockout starting just in case the 2010 free agency rules would be used again in 2011. Colon has 5 years accrued service and missed out on free agency last year because

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is playing host to a free two-day camp yesterday and today for boys and girls ages 7-14 at Brashear High School. The camp is funded by the corporate sponsors, who underwrite the entire camp.
Pro Football Focus has the pass blocking efficiency numbers up now for the tight ends and the running backs and I found it surprising that the Ravens Ray Rice and the Vikings Adrian Peterson finished the lowest of the backs with enough snaps to qualify. Rashard Mendenhall did not have enough pass block attempts to qualify, but his numbers equate to a 10.11 using their formula

The latest buzz making the circuit on the internet is the stock drop of Alabama running back Mark Ingram. Ingram's drop reportedly is because of the long-term stability of Ingram’s knee and the fear that he may develop degenerative arthritis. The former Heisman Trophy winner underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee late last August after injuring it in practice. Ingram missed just two games following the surgery and went on to rush for 875 yards on 158 carries for the Crimson Tide. He also chipped in 21 catches for another 282 yards and scored 14 touchdowns in the process.
