The Steelers wrapped up practice preparations today as they get ready to host the New England Patriots in a few days at Heinz Field. The Friday injury report is now out and it shows that nose tackle Chris Hoke (neck), linebacker James Harrison (eye), guard Doug Legursky (toe) and Jason Worilds (quad) have been ruled out as expected. Hoke was able to get a little work done however. Wide receiver Hines Ward (ankle) did not practice for a third straight day after suffering an ankle injury last week against the Cardinals and is officially listed as questionable. Emmanuel Sanders would start if Ward Read more [...]
The Steelers begin practice preparations today for their Sunday game at home against the New England Patriots. The Wednesday injury report is out and it shows that nose tackle Chris Hoke, linebacker James Harrison (eye), guard Doug Legursky (toe), wide receiver Hines Ward (ankle) and linebacker Jason Worilds (quad) did not practice today. Hampton expects to play Sunday after missing the last 3 weeks with his shoulder injury. Harrison told reporters today that when the doctor tells him he can come back, he will be back, but that he still is experiencing some sensitivity to light. Hoke will likely Read more [...]
Ben Roethlisberger talked to the media on Tuesday and Scott Brown noted how he responded carefully when asked about the NFL's personal conduct policy as it relates to the recent news that Patriots defensive end Albert Haynesworth will not be suspended initially by Roger Goodell after pleading no contest to simple assault charge. Roethlisberger was also careful in criticizing rules designed to better protect quarterbacks this season. Tim Benz of 105 The X caught up with offensive linemen Doug Legursky and Jonathan Scott on Tuesday to talk about the upcoming game against the Panthers. Legursky Read more [...]

NFL Stands For Inconsistency

By Chris Gates I have come to three concrete conclusions so far this NFL season: 1) Officials play too big of a role in games, 2) The league does a horrible job of governing conduct on and off the field, and 3) Roger Goodell has zero consistency in his rulings. James Harrison was fined $75,000 for a borderline hit on Mohamed Massaquoi of the Cleveland Browns early this season. Since, three players have been fined a combined $75,000 for throwing actual punches during games. How does this make any sense? Two weeks ago, Richard Seymour took out his frustration on Roethlisberger. After Read more [...]
The kids attending Coach Mike Tomlin's youth football camp at Mars Area High School got a surprise visit from Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on Wednesday. While it was most definitely a great PR move by Big Ben, he made it clear that it's his intention to be back next year as well. Little things like this will add up over time and restore his character to the fans and the team. The Pittsburgh Steelers streak of winning must win games came to an end on Sunday as the Tennessee Titans beat the Steelers 31-14 in Nashville. The Titans defense forced 4 turnovers without the help of defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth and defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch. The Titans offense also moved the ball against the Steelers number one defense and did not turn the ball over. The Steeler defense as a whole seemed very lackadaisical all day only showing glimpses at times and the Steeler offense continued to struggle running the ball once again. The win by the Titans assures them home field Read more [...]

Steelers versus Titans Preview & Prediction

The Steelers clinched the AFC North division title last week when they beat the Baltimore Ravens, 13-9. QB Ben Roethlisberger completed 22-of-40 for 246 yards and one huge touchdown. The Steeler defense lived up to the hype allowing just nine points and 227 combined rushing and passing yards. The defense also sacked rookie QB Joe Flacco two times as well as intercepting two of his passes. The Steelers now look to get home field advantage throughout the playoffs by beating the 12-2 Tennessee Titans and then beat the Cleveland Browns next week. The Titans need to win this game to secure home field Read more [...]
