The Steelers made 6 roster moves on Tuesday to get down to the league mandated 75 roster total. Released from the active roster were linebacker Brandon Renkart, running back Dwayne Wright, cornerback David Pittman and tackle Adrian Jones. Rookie tackle Chris Scott was moved from the active PUP list to the reserve PUP list and now will certainly miss the first 6 weeks of the season with a foot injury. The Steelers will then have a three-week window to look at Scott in practice before deciding to move him up to the 53-man roster, release him or put him on injured reserve. In a final roster move,

The Steelers have until 4:00 PM Tuesday to get their preseason roster trimmed down to 75 players from 80. I am listing 5 players I believe could be the first 5 out the door in Tuesday roster cuts. Two players they could move to injured reserve are DT Steve McClendon (knee) and T Chris Scott, but I think they want to place Scott on reserve PUP to start the season and McClendon gets another week to get healthy before they make a decision. Below are my 5 and reasons.
LB Brandon Renkart - Renkart was signed as a body when linebacker Andre Frazier was placed on injured reserve. He has no chance at

The Steelers made a roster move on Thursday as they placed six-year veteran linebacker Andre Frazier on the Reserve/Injured List with a knee injury and signed first-year linebacker Brandon Renkart to a one-year deal. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it is believed to be a $320,000.00 contract. Frazier was originally signed by the Steelers as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2005 and then spent time on the team’s active roster in 2005 and again from 2007-09. He also spent time on the Cincinnati Bengals roster in 2006-07. Renkart (6-2, 245) was originally signed a free agent

The Steelers reported to Latrobe on Friday and players straggled in all day per normal. Below are notes from reporting day.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger with his beefy offensive linemen in a caravan of Mini Cooper cars driven over from Pittsburgh. Ben briefly answered a few media questions, but nothing earth shattering to report.
Tackle Max Starks met the media and addressed several things including the signing of Flozell Adams and said he will remain at left tackle and will compete with that Adams will compete at right tackle with Jonathan Scott. Starks had volunteered to move to right tackle,

The Steelers announced on training camp report day that rookie draft pick tackle Chris Scott (foot) and reserve linebacker Andre Frazier (knee) will both start training camp on the active PUP list. Scott broke his foot working out at the University of Tennessee this offseason and has since had surgery, Frazier is experiencing knee soreness. There is no time table on how long both will be on the physically unable to perform list.

It looks like the Steelers are indeed done with contracts for the offseason and once the season starts, no new deals are likely to be done, especially with the cloudy NFL labor situation. To the best of my calculations, the Steelers have 25 of 81 players on the final year of their current contract. I did not prioritize them below, but it is not hard to pick out those that are high profile moving forward. Those players would be: LaMarr Woodley, Ike Taylor, Jeff Reed and Daniel Sepulveda in my opinion. Dennis Dixon, Willie Colon and Trai Essex are fringe at this point. I have included a blurb on

Steelers outside linebacker James Harrison and defensive end Brett Keisel did not practice on Wednesday so Andre Frazier and Nick Eason worked in their places respectively. Ziggy Hood has been working at left end this OTA. Keyaron Fox, Justin Hartwig and Hines Ward also did not practice and Troy Polamalu is back in California.
Channel 4 Action Sports' John Meyer sat down with Steelers first-round draft pick Maurkice Pouncey on Tuesday for a candid interview.
Teresa Varley of Steelers.com wrote about how Hines Ward has taken on a new role during the Steelers OTAs this offseason of mentoring

Here are some notes below I have collected from the Steelers Friday mini-camp practice.
Byron Leftwich worked as the first team quarterback followed by Dennis Dixon and then Charlie Batch.
Cornerback Bryant McFadden worked as the first team left cornerback ahead of William Gay while Gay worked as the nickel back and the first-team special teams gunner opposite special teams ace, Anthony Madison.
Andre Frazier worked first team outside right linebacker in place of the absent James Harrison, who was excused for a death in a family back home. Second-round pick Jason Worilds backed up Frazier.
Fourth-round
