Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison will almost certainly get fined for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy in the 4th quarter of the Thursday night game at Heinz Field. McCoy was scrambling outside the pocket and threw the ball on the run just before he passed the line of scrimmage. The video and animated gif below shows that Harrison hit McCoy right in the face mask after the ball left the hand of McCoy and after he completed his throwing motion. The hit jarred the head back of McCoy and knocked him clear off his feet. Harrison said he was penalized for

If you have read my post and listened to the Terrible Podcast since the Steelers drafted running back Jonathan Dwyer, you know that I have never doubted his running ability with the football. My concerns with him have always been when the football is not in his hands. This key factor is what keeps running backs on rosters as plenty come out of college every year that can merely tote the rock.
During his rookie season Dwyer appeared totally lost during the preseason and in the week 17 game against the Browns when the ball was not in his hands. He struggled with his blitz pick-up most of all.

As if you needed any other proof that Steelers safety Troy Polamalu is back healthy and totally deserving of the contract extension he received prior to the start of the season, all you need to see is the play he made against the Tennessee Titans this past Sunday during the opening drive. The Titans were 3rd and goal from the Steelers 12 yard-line and Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck threw a dump-off screen pass to running back Chris Johnson. Polamalu first dodges tight end Jared Cook and then makes guard Jake Scott look absolutely foolish by giving him a shimmy shake and then pushing him aside

Perhaps the funniest play from the Steelers 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night was the ass block on Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney by Steelers left tackle Jonathan Scott. The play best illustrates the type of night that Scott had trying to handle Freeney. On this play Freeney spins and Scott spins with him and tries to block him with his butt. Freeney then just shoves Scott into quarterback Ben Roethlisberger nearly knocking him to the ground.

Seahawks defensive end Raheem Brock was fined today for his hit on Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger after being leg whipped by right tackle Marcus Gilbert. At first I thought the fine might be unjust, but if you look at the slowed down animated gif video below along with the still shots you can see Brock lunge for the legs long after his first knee hits the ground. In fact his knees come off the ground again as you can see in the video. As you can see, Brock was deserving of the flag and the fine. Brocks' do not bounce.
ETA: Adam Schefter reports Brock was fined $15K.

Once again, All-World strong safety Troy Polamalu made a few spectacular plays in week 17 against the Cleveland Browns. Polamalu timed another one of his flying leaps just perfectly and almost sacked Browns quarterback Colt McCoy in the process. McCoy ended up rolling out and throwing incomplete on the play. Polamalu, who had missed the last 2 games against the Jets and the Panthers, showed why he still needs to be considered as the NFL defensive MVP. Below is the animated gif of the play which is linked to the full video replay on NFL.com.

One of the best sights during the Steelers Bengals week 14 game was the fist pump by Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau on the sideline following the sack of quarterback Carson Palmer by William Gay. We have done up another animated gif of the gesture by the one they call Coach Dad as it seems to be requested by several folks after it happened.

Steelers linebacker James Harrison had two huge hits in the second quarter against the Cleveland Browns in the week 6, 28-10 win. Below are the video replay animated gifs and each are linked to the play on NFL.com. The first one on Joshua Cribbs is legal for sure and a clean hit, but I have a feeling Silverback Deebo will be fined for the second one on Mohamed Massaquoi. Both Cribbs and Massaquoi did not return from these hits.
Vote below on if he will be fined!

It is amazing how much grief Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch is getting across Steeler Nation this week. I swear I think most people only listen to the game on radio or only watch the game the original airing. They then rely on the NFL gamebook to tell their story or base their argument on. Let's face it, the Steelers offense looked spotty at times on Sunday, but to put the blame on Batch is idiotic. What happened on Sunday offensively, falls mostly on the receivers more than anything. Heath Miller, Mike Wallace, Hines Ward and Antwaan Randle El all failed to execute on some key catches in the

Good Friday morning. We have a busy day on tap planned for you today, with quite a bit of content going up. I wanted to start the day with an animated gif of Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin calling the time out against the Falcons in week 1 just before the half ended to ice the Falcons kicker Matt Bryant. This perhaps is the coolest timeout ever taken by an NFL coach in the history of the NFL. Enjoy and stay tuned!
