It looks like the Steelers are indeed done with contracts for the offseason and once the season starts, no new deals are likely to be done, especially with the cloudy NFL labor situation. To the best of my calculations, the Steelers have 25 of 81 players on the final year of their current contract. I did not prioritize them below, but it is not hard to pick out those that are high profile moving forward. Those players would be: LaMarr Woodley, Ike Taylor, Jeff Reed and Daniel Sepulveda in my opinion. Dennis Dixon, Willie Colon and Trai Essex are fringe at this point. I have included a blurb on

We have yet to hear back from Jordan Woy, the agent for wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, but have no reason not to believe our contract report of 3 years, 2 million is not correct. (((Should be 1.8 million - Bad math and 3 years versus 4 years others received))). The picks just ahead of and just behind Sanders had signed and the contract numbers slot perfectly between Earl Mitchell of the Texans and Corey Peters of the Falcons. The only difference is both those players received 4 year deals. The Steelers have a long history of signing players drafted round 3 or later to only 3 year deals and

Here are some notes below I have collected from the Steelers Friday mini-camp practice.
Byron Leftwich worked as the first team quarterback followed by Dennis Dixon and then Charlie Batch.
Cornerback Bryant McFadden worked as the first team left cornerback ahead of William Gay while Gay worked as the nickel back and the first-team special teams gunner opposite special teams ace, Anthony Madison.
Andre Frazier worked first team outside right linebacker in place of the absent James Harrison, who was excused for a death in a family back home. Second-round pick Jason Worilds backed up Frazier.
Fourth-round

If the Steelers want any chance of making the playoffs, it must start with a win in Miami. The defense needs to keep the Wildcat offense of the Dolphins in check and the linebackers will get a workout today. Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne is vulnerable to the sack and the Steelers defense needs to be in his face all day. Dolphins running back Ricky Williams is banged up coming into the game and must pay for every yard he gets. Nose tackle Casey Hampton will be tested up the middle in what could be his final game in a Steelers uniform. The Dolphins offense must be put in obvious passing situations

Below are seven matchups or things to look for on Sunday as the Steelers take on the Miami Dolphins.
Wildcat Hunting - The Steelers struggled against the Browns offense that ran Joshua Cribbs out of the Wildcat. The Dolphins run it without many flaws. Even though running back Ronnie Brown is missing, the Dolphins offense can still run the package.
Cold Ginn Time - We all now about the problems the Steelers have had on special teams this year. Dolphins return man Ted Ginn Jr. is dangerous in the return game and Anthony Madison will need to lead the coverage teams in tracking down the game

Safety Troy Polamalu (knee) did not practice again on Thursday and now seems to be highly doubtful to play on Sunday. The Steelers began practice preparations Wednesday for the week 16 game versus the Ravens on Sunday. Safety Troy Polamalu (knee), defensive end Brett Keisel (neck), cornerback Anthony Madison (illness), running back Willie Parker (knee) and wide receiver Hines Ward (hamstring) all sat out on Wednesday. The MRI on Polamalu revealed favorable results, however he still is not sure when or if he will practice this week. His status for Sunday gets more doubtful everyday he misses practice. Ward said after practice that there's no way he's missing the game against the Ravens. Cornerback Keenan Lewis

Steelers cornerback Anthony Madison signed his one-year, $1.01 million tender offer, the Steelers announced on Friday. Madison looks to continue his reserve role in the secondary along with contributing on special teams. Madison was undrafted in 2006 and had a career-high 25 tackles last year on special teams.

On Thursday the Steelers tendered contracts to three of their restricted free agents. The tenders are offered to restricted free agent players to secure the rights for the Steelers to match any contract offers made by other NFL teams. Among those who received contract tenders were offensive tackle Willie Colon, cornerback Anthony Madison and tight end Sean McHugh. Restricted free agents are players that have three accrued seasons in the NFL and have completed the terms of their current contracts. The Steelers will now have the right of first refusal and/or the rights to draft choice compensation

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media at noon to discuss the upcoming game, Thursday night, versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Tomlin started by saying the team had a great walk through this morning to install the initial game and will work again this afternoon. Tomlin commented that the Bengals seem to be finding a better rhythm. Tomlin commented again that reserve running back Gary Russell had two big third down and short carries and praised him. Injury wise, cornerbacks Bryant McFadden and Deshea Townsend will once again be sidelined this week. Guard Darnell Stapleton got rolled up
