Recapping Rooney – No Real Surprises

Pittsburgh Steelers president Art Rooney II sat down with a few members of the Pittsburgh media on Tuesday for a half hour interview to discuss the Steelers past season and look ahead to 2012. The Pittsburgh Steelers are already nearly $20 plus million over the 2012 projected salary cap number of $125 million and that is with just 44 players under contract for 2012. The still need to tender contracts to their restricted and exclusive rights free agents and fill the offseason roster to get to the 80 player limit as well. They need to get compliant to the salary cap with their top 51 salaries by the start of the new league year around the beginning of March. Steelers Broncos Inactives AFC Wild Card Game

The Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Denver Broncos today in Denver in the seciond AFC Wild Card game of the playoffs. The Steelers ruled out cornerback Cortez Allen, safety Ryan Clark and running back Mewelde Moore for this week and center Maurkice Pouncey is down after aggravating his left ankle injury this week. Doug Legursky will start at center in place of Pouncey and Ryan Mundy will start at safety in place of Clark. The Friday injury report, as expected, had two players ruled out and another questionable. Steelers Browns Inactives Week 17

The Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Cleveland Browns today in Cleveland at Cleveland Municipal Stadium as the Steelers look to move to close out the regular season 12-4. Ben Roethlisberger will get the start today at quarterback and Maurkice Pouncey will get the start at center. The Steelers will dress three quarterbacks today. The Pittsburgh Steelers take on the San Francisco 49ers tonight at Candlestick Park as they look to move to 11-3 on the season and move a step closer to locking up the #1 seed in the AFC. The Monday night game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Francisco 49ers will be short several key players as the Steelers will be without center Maurkice Pouncey, linebacker James Harrison and possibly even quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and the 49ers look to be missing their best linebacker Patrick Willis. Steelers Browns Inactives Week 14

The Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Cleveland Browns tonight at Heinz Field as week 14 in the NFL gets underway. The Steelers look to move to 10-3 on the season with a win tonight. The final injury report on Wednesday had 5 Steelers players listed as out and 1 as doubtful, but since then two of those 6 players have been placed on injured reserve in the form of nose tackle Chis Hoke and running back Jonathan Dwyer.
