Report: Todd Haley Frontrunner For Steelers Offensive Coordinator Job

Alby Oxenreiter, Sports Director for WPXI, tweets this afternoon that it is his understanding that former Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley is the frontrunner for the Pittsburgh Steelers open offensive coordinator job. Since it was announced two weeks ago that Bruce Arians would not return for 2012, Haley was the only interview that has been 100% acknowledged by the Steelers website. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin also has reportedly had interest in Jim Caldwell, Alex Van Pelt and Hue Jackson as well, but if any of those interviews actually did take place, they only have fringe confirmation Read more [...]

Don’t Count Out Koogs

By Jeremy Hritz Jim Irsay, who is becoming more eccentric with each passing day, and the Indianapolis Colts wasted no time in hiring a replacement head coach for Jim Caldwell. Within eight days, Chuck Pagano, one-time defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens, was hired to replace Caldwell, with the embattled and “retired” Bruce Arians following a few days later. Some Steelers’ fans may be looking at the Colts with envy, not because the history and tradition of the Colts’ franchise, but because of the swiftness that Read more [...]

Ravens Promote Dean Pees To Defensive Coordinator, Cam Cameron To Remain OC

Some news from the enemy today as it was announced a short time ago that the Baltimore Ravens have promoted linebackers coach Dean Pees to defensive coordinator to replace Chuck Pagano, who was named the Indianapolis Colts head coach earlier this week. Pees has coached the Ravens linebackers for the last two seasons after spending six seasons on the New England Patriots staff where he served as the linebackers coach and later as defensive coordinator after Eric Mangini left to coach of the New York Jets. The Coordinators They Are A-Changin’

By Jeremy Hritz Bob Dylan said “the times they are a changin’.” If he is following AFC North football, he may be considering a lyrical revision. It looks like the Pittsburgh Steelers are not the only AFC North team that will begin the 2012 NFL season with a new coordinator. On Wednesday, Chuck Pagano, defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens, accepted the head coaching position of the Indianapolis Colts, taking over for the recently fired Jim Caldwell. Pagano, in his first year as the defensive coordinator for the Ravens, lead the defense to a third overall ranking in yards allowed, Read more [...]

Steelers Six From Around The Web – January 23rd – Jerome Bettis Calls Tails Again Edition

Former Steelers great Jerome Bettis showed up in the latest Papa John pizza commercial on Sunday that was a promo for the Super Bowl XLVI Coin Toss Experience. Peyton Manning also has a cameo as the referee that pokes fun of the Thanksgiving coin toss debacle against the Detroit Lions back on on November 26, 1998. The Benstonium crew already has a Ace Ventura spoof out of the missed kick by Billy Cundiff in the AFC Championship game. This time it is “Laces out, Sam”, instead of “Laces out, Dan.” This of course would make Cundiff, Ray Finkle and Sam Koch, Dan Marino. Too funny. Speaking Read more [...]

Super Bowl XLVI – New England Patriots Versus New York Giants

Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis is now set as the New England Patriots beat the Baltimore Ravens 23-20 in the AFC Championship game earlier in the day and the New York Giants beat the San Francisco 49ers 20-17 in the late NFC Championship game. It now sets up a rematch of Super Bowl XLII that the Giants won 17-14 in Glendale, Arizona. Both championship games were very entertaining and each were decided basically by one play. In New England, Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff missed a 32-yard field goal with 15 seconds left in the game to give the Patriots the win. The Ravens took possession of the Read more [...]

The Baltimore Ravens lost to the New England Patriots 23-20 in the AFC Championship game as Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff shanked a 32-yard field-goal wide left with with just 15 seconds left in regulation that would have tied the game and likely sent in into overtime. One Ravens fan did not take the loss very well as you will see in the Youtube video below and went into full blown freak-out mode. He tells everyone to get out of his house and cusses Cundiff, offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and even quarterback Joe Flacco. The video is quite entertaining to us Steelers fans I must admit. Here are my previews of both games and predictions for each.
