Former Steelers receiver Dallas Baker will sign with the Montreal Alouettes today of the CFL. Baker was drafted by the Steelers in the seventh round (227th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft. No, this is not an April Fools joke.
In the latest two round mock draft put out by NFL.com Senior Analyst Pat Kirwan, he has the Steelers selecting Derek Sherrod in round 1 and Christian Ballard in round 2.
Bob Labriola continues on with his series of stories chronicling the 52 playoff games in Steelers history and the latest is about the 1974 AFC Divisional win against the Buffalo Bills.

The NFL handed out 32 compensatory draft picks for the 2011 NFL Draft that are awarded to teams that suffered a net loss of certain quality unrestricted free agents last offseason. The Steelers as expected did not receive any after receiving 3 last year. The compensatory draft picks will supplement the 221 regular picks in the regular seven rounds of the draft this April, with picks positioned within the 3rd through the 7th rounds based on the value of the free agent lost. Below are the compensatory draft picks awarded by round with overall selection in parentheses:
3 (97) Carolina Panthers

The Steelers allowed 5 sacks Sunday afternoon against the Buffalo Bills and we have the breakdowns of all of them below in animated gif form. If you click on any of the images, you can see the full size replay on NFL.com. If you missed are offensive line breakdown grading against the Bills, you can read the grades here.
In the 1st sack of the day it looks like it is a tight end screen play gone wrong as Chris Kemoeatu throws Kyle Williams to the ground and starts down field. Maurkice Pouncey has Marcus Stroud under control and leaves as well. Flozell Adams keeps Chris Kelsay way wide. Heath

Below is the Steelers week 12 defensive participation chart versus the Buffalo Bills from this past Sunday. Please comment with any discrepancies you find. Anthony Madison saw his snaps increase with the injury to Bryant McFadden as well as the Steelers playing a little more dime defense. That resulted in Lawrence Timmons being out of the game for 12 plays.

76 - Chris Hoke 16 of 66
93 - Nick Eason 49 of 66

Below is the play by play break down of the offensive line from the Sunday afternoon week 12 game versus the Buffalo Bills. It is merely a pass or fail grade on if I think the lineman did his job or not. It also should be noted that we go under assumptions that we know what the assignment on each play was and sometimes it is not obvious. We have to grade on what we see and go from there. We added small notes to each play as well. As always if you disagree with any play, do so respectfully in the comments and give your reason so I can go back through and re-watch your disagreement.

Steelers linebacker James Harrison will be talked about yet again this week after being flagged for roughing the passer and hitting the crown of his helmet against Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on Sunday. The animated gif and slow motion video is below so you can see for yourself.
Harrison has already fined a total of $100,000 so far this season for what the league deemed illegal hits The latest hit on Sunday could draw even more scrutiny from the NFL and perhaps a another fine and even suspension. "It's not going to change the way I play," Harrison said, via the AP. "There was

Bills wide receiver Steve Johnson made news last week after one of his touchdowns against the Bengals by flashing his "Why So Serious?" he had written on his undershirt. This week Johnson will be on the highlight reel for his drop of a potential game-winning touchdown catch in overtime against the Steelers. We have the animated gif below and you can click it to see the full video replay on NFL.com. It appears Steve is blaming the drop on God.
You can watch the post game press conference comments from Johnson below.

Perhaps the best opening drive of the season for the Steelers. Everything looked smooth and play calling was flawless. 13 plays and 7:54 off the clock. Rashard Mendenhall ran great.
Mendenhall fumbled again though and I hope that is not the old problem he had.
Isaac Redman was there when his number was called. Loved that dive play call in overtime for the first down.
Steelers defense looked good early on forcing the Bills 3 and out on first two possessions. Saw Anthony Madison start which was a change. Saw some dime looks on defense too which was a change.
Second Steelers drive was

The Steelers have a chance to go 3-1 in November and move one step closer a playoff birth as well as stay in stride with the Ravens who they face next week. The Steelers can not look past the 2-8 Bills who have won their last 2 games. The Steelers face a tough December and must make sure they put this one in the win column. Below are what we deem to be 7 keys to the game for the Steelers to beat the Bills in week 12.
Urbik Under Attack - The Bills will be without starting right guard Eric Wood on Sunday and that means Kraig Urbik will get his first carrer start against the Steelers who drafted

I normally like to get this list up on Friday, but wanted to wait until today because of the Matt Spaeth injury. I was not sure if the Steelers might consider an extra body from the practice squad. It was a stretch and does not look like it will happen. Instead we got news this morning that Brett Keisel was added to the injury report as questionable with a calf injury. If he is indeed down again and Spaeth does not dress, it could mean the Steelers dress an extra linemen this week in the form of tackle Tony Hills. Below are the eight players we expect to see on the Steelers inactive list released

The Steelers wrapped up practice preparations on Friday for their Sunday game against the Buffalo Bills. DE Aaron Smith (triceps) sat out again as expected and is out this week. WR Antonio Brown (knee) and TE Matt Spaeth (concussion) both sat out on Friday. Brown is out this week, while Spaeth now is doubtful after working fully on Thursday and having a setback. S Troy Polamalu (ankle ) practiced fully after sitting out both Wednesday and Thursday and is listed as questionable.
The Bills will be without three players for Sunday’s as DE Spencer Johnson (hamstring), LB Shawne Merriman (calf/Achilles)

Scott Brown wrote about how rookie wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is making his mark on the team this year.
All is looking good so far with defensive end Brett Keisel this week as he looks to return from the hamstring injury. He will turn it loose today to see how it responds.
Wide receiver Mike Wallace says he is seeing things much clearer now and learning the timing of everything with his routes.
