The NFL handed out 32 compensatory draft picks for the 2011 NFL Draft that are awarded to teams that suffered a net loss of certain quality unrestricted free agents last offseason. The Steelers as expected did not receive any after receiving 3 last year. The compensatory draft picks will supplement the 221 regular picks in the regular seven rounds of the draft this April, with picks positioned within the 3rd through the 7th rounds based on the value of the free agent lost. Below are the compensatory draft picks awarded by round with overall selection in parentheses: 3 (97) Carolina Panthers 4 Read more [...]
Willie Colon was quoted in an article about players who are watching their spending while they are locked out. Colon had plans of purchasing a new car for himself and one for his brother, but has put off those purchases until the labor situation is resolved. Steelers Director of Football Operations Kevin Colbert chatted with reporters down at the owners meeting in New Orleans and Scott Brown has the Q & A. Desmond Brown, the brother of Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, concluded his first week as a University of Pittsburgh walk-on Saturday. He is currently backing up starter Ray Graham, Read more [...]

Below is the play by play break down of the offensive line from the Sunday afternoon week 14 game versus the Cincinnati Bengals. It is merely a pass or fail grade on if I think the lineman did his job or not. It also should be noted that we go under assumptions that we know what the assignment on each play was and sometimes it is not obvious. We have to grade on what we see and go from there. We added small notes to each play as well. As always if you disagree with any play, do so respectfully in the comments and give your reason so I can go back through and re-watch your disagreement. Quick Thoughts On The Steelers Bengals Game

By David Todd Overview: After a slow start on both sides of the ball the Steelers put together a workman-like 23-7 win. The defense dominated after the first quarter, scoring both Steelers touchdowns, actually outscoring the Bengals 12-7. The offense did a good job of possessing the ball and moving the chains but continued to have trouble finishing drives. Nonetheless it was a good division win coming off an emotional national television win against Baltimore the previous week. Injuries: There were no significant new injuries reported after the game for the first time in weeks. Both Ben Read more [...]
This is too good that I had to post this video for those that are not on Twitter and such. Flatwoods, Kentucky native Ryan Parker has been writing songs about Cincinnati-area sports teams since 2005 and his latest is dedicated to Bengals owner Mike Brown to the tune of the Eminem song, Love The Way You Lie. Well done Ryan Parker. You can visit his site here. http://www.ryanparkersongs.com/ Read more [...]
One of the best sights during the Steelers Bengals week 14 game was the fist pump by Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau on the sideline following the sack of quarterback Carson Palmer by William Gay. We have done up another animated gif of the gesture by the one they call Coach Dad as it seems to be requested by several folks after it happened. Read more [...]
Both sides of the ball were very sluggish to start with and it was not the first time we have seen this. The defense seemed confused to start with how the Bengals were lining up the fullback, tight end and extra tackles. Once they got that sorted out after the first drive they calmed down. LaMarr Woodley got of to a rough start starting with the first 3rd down, but he more than made up for it. I do not harp on non-calls that much in these recaps, but the missed holding calls on Woodley and James Harrison were VERY noticeable. I might try to clip gifs of all of these as the week goes. They Read more [...]

There is no room for a let down against the Bengals after the hard fought victory last week against the Ravens in Baltimore. A loss this week, could cost them a shot at the AFC North title as well as a good shot at the home field advantage. Playoffs? Why am I talking about playoffs? The Steelers should not be worried about anything but treating this as a must win divisional game and everything else will take care of itself. They have to remember that the Bengals swept them in 2009. This game has to be personal for them and they must play as such. Below are what we deem to be 7 keys to the game Read more [...]
I have been spot on with these as of late and feel pretty sure of the first 7 of 8 on this weeks guess list. Aaron Smith, Heath Miller and Steve McLendon are out, so they are slam dunks. Rookies Chris Scott, Crezdon Butler and Jonathan Dwyer are near locks. Charlie Batch has been the #3 QB for some time. That leaves the 8th spot. Does Tomlin dress and extra tackle in Tony Hills with Flozell Adams being dinged up and Matt Spaeth returning from a concussion? Also the Steelers are minus a tight end in Miller. My 8th choice will not be popular with Steeler Nation. I just do not think there will be Read more [...]
