Ed Bouchette reports that contract extension negotiations with Troy Polamalu are ongoing, but I warn everyone not to get their hopes up that an extension will be reached by Sunday. The Steelers do not do contracts during the season typically, but Polamalu might be an exception to the rule. I am not saying it will not happen by Sunday, but I now see it as highly unlikely. Ex-Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress vows to return to the NFL and said he apologized to the New York Giants for tarnishing the organization in an interview with Bill Cowher that is set to air Sunday on CBS. The interview was done from the upstate New York prison where Burress is currently incarcerated after pleading guilty to attempted weapons possession in the second degree. Another ex-Steeler making headlines is Joey Porter. Porter is making it known that he wants to be released from the Dolphins and not traded.
