The Coordinators They Are A-Changin’

By Jeremy Hritz Bob Dylan said “the times they are a changin’.” If he is following AFC North football, he may be considering a lyrical revision. It looks like the Pittsburgh Steelers are not the only AFC North team that will begin the 2012 NFL season with a new coordinator. On Wednesday, Chuck Pagano, defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens, accepted the head coaching position of the Indianapolis Colts, taking over for the recently fired Jim Caldwell. Pagano, in his first year as the defensive coordinator for the Ravens, lead the defense to a third overall ranking in yards allowed, Read more [...]

Hines Ward Says He Will Play Versus Ravens & Wouldn’t Miss It For The World

It did not take Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward long to respond to to Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs calling him out during his conference call today. Suggs told the media this afternoon, “You tell 86 I hope he plays. I’d be really disappointed if 86 doesn’t play.” Following the afternoon call the media passed on the comments to Ward and Scott Brown reports that Ward said, “I’ll be out there. I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Ward missed the game last week against the Patriots due to an ankle injury he suffered against the Cardinals back in week 7. As many know by now, Ward Read more [...]

Week 1 – 7 Things To Look For Against The Ravens

Here we go with week 1 of the 2011 season and what a way to begin it. There is never a great time to play the Baltimore Ravens, but if there were, it would be week 1 with all of the changes that the Ravens have made coming out of a lockout that resulted in missed mini-camps and OTA sessions. The Steelers only have 7 new players on the roster with 6 of them being rookies. After a slow start in week 1 of the preseason against the Redskins, the Steelers really came together quickly on both sides of the ball and look very prepared to start the season with a bang. As I do every week of the season, here Read more [...]

Albert Breer reports that all what remains is “a few small points” in the language and the goal is for the NFLPA to be able to present the completed document to its 13-man executive committee today with a vote to follow. Breer reports that the doors would open Tuesday and teams will be allowed to sign draftees and rookie free agents. Free agency would then begin Friday at 6 p.m. ET. The Titans could make veteran safety Chris Hope a salary cap causality over the next few days. Hope was a 3rd round draft pick of the Steelers back in 2002. Prisco Calls Polamalu Overrated Using Poor Fact Checking

CBSSports.com Senior Writer Pete Prisco named Steelers safety Troy Polamalu the league’s most-overrated player on Thursday so I think it deserves a rebuttal by breaking down the post of Prisco. Prisco states that the Packers exposed Polamalu in the Super Bowl and says he isn’t great in coverage. As far as the Super Bowl goes, Polamalu was thrown at just twice according to the play charting on Pro Football Focus and yes both passes were caught with one going for a touchdown. The fault of the touchdown can be disputed though and even Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau said just this week Read more [...]
