Steelers RB Coach Kirby Wilson Has Started Physical Rehabilitation


The Pittsburgh Steelers have updated the status of running backs coach Kirby Wilson on Wednesday afternoon via a short statement on behalf of the family of Wilson. The Statement reads, “Mr. Wilson remains in serious condition in the Trauma Burn Center at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh. His status is stable, and he has started his physical rehabilitation. The Wilson family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support.” Wilson reportedly suffered burns over 45 percent of his body in an early morning fire at his house in suburban Pittsburgh back on January 7th. The recent report by ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen suggest that Pittsburgh Steelers president Art Rooney II did not retain offensive coordinator Bruce Arians for 2012 because Rooney wants the team to shift the offense back toward its blue-collar identity of years past. The Bill Doraty Kia dealership in Medina, Ohio will give away cars if the Cleveland Browns shutout the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday. On a related note, if the Steelers shutout the Browns it will be no big deal. James Harrison Appeal To Be Heard Today At 2 Eastern Time

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison reportedly will have his appeal for his one game suspension heard today via a phone conversation at 2:00 p.m. eastern time according to ESPN reporter Josina Anderson. Appeals officer Ted Cottrell will preside over the appeal. Cottrell was a defensive coach in the league for 30 years and is one of two people hired and paid jointly by the league and the NFLPA to hear player appeals. Report: NFL Considering Suspending Steelers LB James Harrison

ESPN reporter Adam Schefter tweeted Sunday morning that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is considering a one or two game suspension for Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison after Thursday night helmet-to-helmet hit on Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy. Harrison hit McCoy in the fourth quarter just after McCoy released a pass after first tucking the ball under his arm and attempting to scramble outside the tackle box. Todd Marinovich Turned Down A Shot With The Steelers In 1994

An interesting tidbit came out tonight during the ESPN premier airing of “The Marinovich Project”, a documentary about former 1991 first round draft pick Todd Marinovich. The film covers the life of Marinovich from a child up through his exit from the NFL and beyond. It is well worth seeing if you get a chance. Late in the film Marinovich talks about life after his release from the Los Angeles Raiders after being suspended for the 1993 season for failing his third NFL drug test. Report: Dennis Dixon Will Sign One Year Tender

ESPN AFC North blogger James Walker is reporting that Steelers restricted free agent quarterback Dennis Dixon will sign his one-year restricted free-agent tender. The move is expected as early as today according to the report, which will allow Dixon to practice later this week. Dixon’s agent Jeff Sperbeck said that the desire for a trade and an opportunity to compete for a starting job elsewhere remains the same, but added it was in the best interest for Dixon to get into training camp before he missed even more time. Report: Steelers Will Not Suspend James Harrison

ESPN reporter Rachel Nichols is reporting via Twitter that she talked to Steelers president Art Rooney II today about linebacker James Harrison and that Rooney said that any disciplinary action the team takes will be handled internally and it will not result in any suspensions or disruption of Harrison’s on-field activities.
