Steelers Waive/Injured Limas Sweed – Sign Dockery & Harris

The Steelers broke camp this morning with a couple of roster moves as wide receiver Limas Sweed was waived injured and tight end Eugene Bright was waived off of the PUP list. To take their spots on the roster, the Steelers signed defensive backs Kevin Dockery and Macho Harris. Sweed has had a litany of problems since being drafted by the Steelers in the second-round of the 2008 NFL draft and he could not stay healthy again this year in camp. Bright had been on the active PUP list since the start of camp as he was recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. Dockery is a cornerback that broke Read more [...]

Adam Shefter is reporting via Twitter that the Steelers will sign free agent wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery today to a a one-year contract. Cotchery was released by the Jets following the lockout and made a visit to Latrobe this past weekend. Cotchery left without a contract and visited with the Ravens just days ago. It was reported that the Ravens did not have serious interest in signing him however. Cotchery passed his physical during his visit with the Steelers after he reportedly had a microdiscetomy about five months ago. During that surgery Cotchery had part of a herniated disc in his Read more [...]

Steelers 2011 Training Camp – Day Fourteen Recap

Day fourteen was the type of day at Steelers training camp that we all hate to hear about as rookie sensation 7th round draft pick Baron Batch has likely torn the ACL in his left knee late in practice today. Batch reportedly got his foot caught in a seam after finishing a run. The injury has not been confirmed yet by the Steelers, but judging by the reaction of Batch and several of his teammates, it will be shocking if it is anything but that. The Steelers were practicing on the field turf today likely because all of the recent rain in Latrobe. We wish Batch the best as he is a breath of fresh Read more [...]

Tomlin expects starters to play around 10 snaps or less. 7 players have already been ruled out Read more [...]

Sanders reportedly will have X-rays on Wednesday to see how the healing in his foot is coming along after getting the bone marrow and calcium injection done just after training camp got underway. The worst thing Read more [...]

Steelers 2011 Training Camp – Day Twelve Recap

Day 12 of Steelers training camp started with a transaction as it was announced that defensive end Ty Boyle had been released and defensive end Jarrett Crittenton was claimed off waivers from Seattle to take his spot on the roster. Boyle is the nephew of Penguins CEO and President David Morehouse and the Steelers might have done him a favor by inviting Boyle to camp. Another move was made on Monday as receiver Hines Ward was activated from the active PUP this morning so he could participate in his first full practice today. Ward was still recovering from offseason thumb ligament surgery when Read more [...]

Hines Ward To Be Removed From PUP Today

Steelers Digest is reporting via Twitter this morning that wide receiver Hines Ward has passed his physical and will return to practice today. Ward has been on the active PUP List since the start of training camp as he recovers from his offseason thumb surgery. He put off the surgery this offseason so he could compete in the reality dance show, Dancing with the Stars. Ward said previously on the Rich Eisen Podcast that he had suffered the torn ligament in his left thumb early in the season last year and played all season with it. With the Ward activation today, it leaves only guard Chris Kemoeatu Read more [...]

Steelers 2011 Training Camp – Day Eight Recap

Thursday at Steelers camp was the day every football fan was waiting for and the Steelers even pushed back practice in hopes that the new labor agreement would be ratified. The CBA was finally ratified later this afternoon and now hopefully we will have 10 years of labor peace. It should be noted that the Steelers as a team voted against the ratification to make a statement. It was not a majority no vote according to Mark Kaboly, but it goes in books as a team no vote. David Todd and I recorded a new episode of The Terrible Podcast today and it includes our interview Wednesday with undrafted Read more [...]

Steelers 2011 Training Camp – Day Seven Recap

It was pretty uneventful day news wise on Wednesday, day 7 of Steelers training camp, but there still was a little to talk about. First off, for everyone still interested in former kicker Jeff Reed, I told you yesterday that he was visiting the Seahawks and today it was announced that he was signed by them. This means that Skippy is set to return to Pittsburgh week 2 when the Steelers host the Seahawks. I suspect he will get an earful from a portion of Steeler Nation. Rookie undrafted tight end Weslye Saunders joined David Todd and I for a mid morning interview and you can listen to that Read more [...]

Steelers 2011 Training Camp – Day Six Recap

Day 6 of Steelers training camp is in the books and this post will serve as your daily recap of the comings and goings from Tuesday at Latrobe. The morning started with the announcement that long snapper Greg Warren had agreed to terms. The Steelers only had one long snapper in camp in the form of Derek Chard and Warren now appears to be the odds on favorite to continue his role as the long snapper. This now means that all of 2010 specialist are back on the roster in Warren, Daniel Sepulveda, Shaun Suisham and Jeremy Kapinos. Sepulveda is the odds on favorite to beat out Kapinos if indeed he Read more [...]

Steelers 2011 Training Camp – Day Four Recap

Sunday was day 4 of Steelers training camp and once again the news got off to an early start as the Plaxico Burress watch is now over after he agreed to terms on a one year deal with the Jets for a little over $3 million. Perhaps the trip to Pittsburgh was just a ploy to drive his price tag up, but I am willing to bet the Steelers were not in the ballpark money wise. Whatever the reason was, it doesn’t matter at this point. The next bit of news we got right before practice started is that the Steelers had agreed to terms with cornerback William Gay on a one-year deal. No terms were announce, but Read more [...]
