It did not take Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to recover as a fan favorite as he is ranked 5th overall in jersey sales according to new data released by NFLShop.com from the period running from April 1-Aug. 30. Troy Polamalu is the top rated Steelers player in jersey sales as he finished 3rd overall behind Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews of the Packers. In total there are six Steelers players in the top 20 as Hines Ward, Mike Wallace, James Harrison and Rashard Mendenhall also made the list.
The Steelers edged out the Packers in overall jersey sales with the Cowboys finishing 3rd overall

Every Sunday night and Monday morning the hot topic of discussion as of late is the Top 100 Players of 2011 rankings that the NFL Network is currently doing. The players were voted on and ranked reportedly by all of the players in the league and the network is releasing 10 a week as they count backwards from 100 to 1. Every week there are a few jaw droppers and nearly every player evokes some sort of discussion. I like the discussion more than the rankings as it certainly seems to be a popularity contest more than it does anything else.
As of last night they have made it to #61 and have thus

The Steelers continued their on field practice preparations for Super Bowl XLV down in Dallas next Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers. The injury report and practice participation report is the same as the one turned in on Wednesday. C Maurkice Pouncey (ankle), S Will Allen (knee), S Troy Polamalu (Achilles), CB Bryant McFadden (abdomen), WR Emmanuel Sanders (foot) and T Jonathan Scott (ribs) all sat out again and Pouncey is the only player on that list in serious jeopardy of not being ready for Super Bowl. DE Aaron Smith (triceps) was limited once again and there are no signs yet that

The Miami Dolphins are coming off of a hard fought win against the Green Bay Packers while the Steelers are coming off of a week filled with the drama of the NFL league office for the hits dished out against the Cleveland Browns last Sunday. This game starts a 3 game road trip for the Steelers and winning the first one will be huge in setting the tone heading into New Orleans next week to play the defending champs. Below are what we deem to be 7 keys to the game for the Steelers to beat the Dolphins in week 7 down in South Florida.

Two of the most pressing offseason things the Steelers will need to do, outside of the draft and free agency, is to get contract extensions done with wide receiver Santonio Holmes and linebacker LaMarr Woodley. Both players enter 2010 with it being their final years on their contracts. Both Holmes and Woodley put up career numbers with Holmes falling 1 reception short of 80 on the season and Woodley closing out the 2009 season by registering at least a half a sack or better for the final 8 games.
The contract extension that Holmes is likely to receive will be somewhere in the neighborhood of

Losing 5 straight games and falling almost completely out of playoff contention has put head coach Mike Tomlin a position to see exactly what type of coach he is. The Steelers need a ton of help to make the playoffs and they must start by helping themselves.
On offense it would be advisable to run quick releases and slants in the passing game to get the ball out of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's hands quicker. Roethlisberger was sacked 8 times in Cleveland and the Packers pass rush is 8 times better than the Browns. Also getting running back Rashard Mendenhall involved more in the passing
