Make no mistake the Steelers caught a break on the Ben Roethlisberger fumble. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger recently did a sit down interview with his mentor Merril Hoge for ESPN. Roethlisberger reflects on his troubled past several months and admitted he even contemplated giving up football. Head coach Mike Tomlin says Ben Roethlisberger looked sharp in his first week back of practice. I missed this on Monday, but according to Gerry Dulac, some players did not get the defensive call on the Willis McGahee TD run that tied the score at 7-7. Linebacker James Farrior said the call wasn't relayed fast enough because linebacker coach Keith Butler had a headset malfunctioned. Dennis Dixon is ahead of schedule and was seen walking around the locker room on Wednesday. Dixon sees himself being ready after the bye as he recovers from meniscus surgery. Dale Lolley noted that the Steelers Wednesday practice was more subdued than usual. We are winding down our coverage of the week 1 game versus the Falcons and are finishing up a few more items, but wanted to make sure to post the defensive participation chart of the game. What sicks out the most is the fact that James Farrior and Lawrence Timmons played every snap at the inside linebacking spots. I really expected to see Larry Foote spelling one of them every now and again, but there was no need. The Steelers got in their second official practice of the week on Thursday in preparation to play the Tennessee Titans this coming weekend. T Max Starks (ankle) and NT Casey Hampton (hamstring) both sat out for a second straight day. As expected, WR Hines Ward (not injury related), LB James Farrior (not injury related) and DE Aaron Smith (not injury related) all returned to practice fully on Thursday after getting their veterans day off yesterday. Opening Statement: So much has happened since the final 2009 season game against Miami and the start of the season must be a welcome sight for the Steelers players and coaches. The preseason was a bit of a blur and was overall a success until quarterback Byron Leftwich went down with a MCL injury in the final game against Carolina. Steelers Practice Squad Announced

The Steelers finalized their practice squad on Sunday and it includes many familiar faces as expected. The players added to the Steelers practice squad include: TE Eugene Bright, OG Dorian Brooks, S Da’Mon Cromartie-Smith, WR Tyler Grisham, OT Kyle Jolly, DT Steve McLendon, FB Frank Summers and DE Doug Worthington. All 8 players were on the Steelers training camp roster this year. The have also elected their team captains by naming Hines Ward and Heath Miller offensive captains; James Farrior defensive captain and Keyaron Fox the special teams captain.
