Former Steelers kicker Jeff Reed was back in Pittsburgh Friday and spotted down at the Steelers facility visiting a few of his former teammates earlier in the day. Gerry Dulac reported this afternoon that Reed was not in for a workout.
That is not where the Reed news ends today however as Reed went to the Penguins hockey game tonight and reportedly ended up having to leave early as a buddy he was with stood on a chair, fell off, knocked himself out and was taken out on a body board by medics. Reed reportedly left with him.

The year is 1995, and the “Cardiac Colts” were poised to take one last Hail Mary in efforts to take the 9-7 Colts to the Superbowl. The “Comeback Kid” Jim Harbaugh drops back, winds up, and launches Indy’s last prayer. There’s confusion, a pile of players, and a receiver by the name of Aaron Bailey insisting he caught the ball; and ultimately a Steelers celebration. The Pittsburgh Steelers are going to the Superbowl!
You might remember at that time a very respectful, and gracious coach by the name of Ted Marchibroda. He was standing outside the visitors’

It was pretty uneventful day news wise on Wednesday, day 7 of Steelers training camp, but there still was a little to talk about.
First off, for everyone still interested in former kicker Jeff Reed, I told you yesterday that he was visiting the Seahawks and today it was announced that he was signed by them. This means that Skippy is set to return to Pittsburgh week 2 when the Steelers host the Seahawks. I suspect he will get an earful from a portion of Steeler Nation.
Rookie undrafted tight end Weslye Saunders joined David Todd and I for a mid morning interview and you can listen to that

Day 6 of Steelers training camp is in the books and this post will serve as your daily recap of the comings and goings from Tuesday at Latrobe.
The morning started with the announcement that long snapper Greg Warren had agreed to terms. The Steelers only had one long snapper in camp in the form of Derek Chard and Warren now appears to be the odds on favorite to continue his role as the long snapper. This now means that all of 2010 specialist are back on the roster in Warren, Daniel Sepulveda, Shaun Suisham and Jeremy Kapinos. Sepulveda is the odds on favorite to beat out Kapinos if indeed he

Now that things have died down a bit before the draft, I figured it was a good time to look at the potential roster spots on the 53 man roster that one could consider as being unsettled at this point late in March. Several of these spots will close up quickly as soon as we know how the true status of the players that are unrestricted that might be deemed restricted. Also undetermined at this time is the future of free agent Ike Taylor and veteran Flozell Adams as well. Will there be 21 actually roster spot up for grabs? Highly unlikely. In fact when the dust settles I suspect it will be easy to

If the season ended today, the seeds would be 1. Patriots 2. Steelers 3. Chiefs 4. Colts 5. Ravens 6. Jets. If the Steelers win against the Browns next week they keep the #2 seed, but if they lose and the Ravens and Jets win, the Steelers get the #6 seed. The Colts and Jaguars will battle for the lone remaining playoff spot.
If you are curious about how former Steelers kicker Jeff Reed is doing with the 49ers, he missed a 34 yard field goal yesterday and had a horrible tackle effort on a 84 yard kickoff return.

With four games remaining now in the 2010 regular season, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin should really be in the pole position for the NFL head coach of the year honors. Before the season ever began, the Steelers were faced with adversity as starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was facing a minimum of a four game suspension. During training camp and preseason Tomlin was criticized for the handling of the back-up quarterback rotation and playing time. In the final preseason game against the Panthers, number two quarterback Byron Leftwich suffered an MCL injury to his knee that would sideline

When the Steelers travel to Baltimore Sunday night to face the Ravens on national television, it not only will be a very important game for the AFC North crown, it will be a game to let Steeler Nation know what exactly this 2010 team is or isn't and whether or not it is legitimate contender to capture a 7th Lombardi Trophy.
A ton has changed since the week 4 loss to the Ravens as that was the last game starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was forced to miss due to his four game suspension to start the season. Even number two quarterback Byron Leftwich was sidelined with a MCL injury and veteran

Overview:
The Steelers couldn't have asked for a better opponent this past week than the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders strengths fit right in to what the Steelers do well and the Steelers had the added incentive of the Raiders win last year at Heinz Field. The Steelers were coming off an embarrassing defeat at home on national television to the New England Patriots and had something to prove, to themselves and their fans. And they did. An excellent game across the board.
Injuries:
Overall the Steelers came out of this game in reasonably good shape. The offense line again got
