Jim Wexell reports this afternoon that Doug Legursky will start Sunday night at left guard in place of Chris Kemoeatu against the Kansas City Chiefs. Reportedly the change is not because of the knee injury that has troubled Kemoeatu off and on this season, but more related to performance by Kemoeatu.
Legursky dressed back in week 10 against the Bengals for the first time since he dislocated a toe against the Jaguars back in week 6. Kemoeatu has been very inconsistent this year and leads the Steelers in quarterback pressures allowed and this is the most likeliest reason for the change. Kemoeatu

The Steelers run defense has had its problems this season, especially in the first four games, but you can't help but notice how good the pass defense has been thus far. Entering the Sunday night divisional game against the Baltimore Ravens, the Steelers are ranked first in passing yards allowed per game (171.6) and passing yards allowed per play (5.22). They also broke out a heavy press man coverage this past week against the New England Patriots and held the great Tom Brady to just 198 yards passing, 69 of which came on the Patriots last scoring drive. While they have allowed 10 touchdown passes

The Steelers reportedly suffered yet another injury to the offensive line today as center Maurkice Pouncey injured his elbow today during practice according to a tweet by Ed Bouchette. Bouchette reports that Pouncey did not want to talk about the injury and he will likely be added to the injury report today which will be out shortly.
Jim Wexell also reported on Twitter this afternoon that linebacker Jason Worilds aggravated his strained quad while in downfield coverage today in practice and he was limping, but hopeful. Worilds was hoping to get the start at right outside linebacker this week

No big surprise here as Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians announced to the media today during his weekly Q & A that running back Rashard Mendenhall would start Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars according to Jim Wexell.
Mendenhall dressed, but did not play against the Titans last Sunday as he was nursing a hamstring injury suffered the week before against the Texans. Isaac Redman started in the place of Mendenhall and Jonathan Dwyer backed him up with Mewelde Moore also sidelined with an ankle injury.
Redman rushed for 49 yards on 15 carries and earned every bit of it with

CBSSports.com Senior Writer Pete Prisco named Steelers safety Troy Polamalu the league's most-overrated player on Thursday so I think it deserves a rebuttal by breaking down the post of Prisco.
Prisco states that the Packers exposed Polamalu in the Super Bowl and says he isn't great in coverage. As far as the Super Bowl goes, Polamalu was thrown at just twice according to the play charting on Pro Football Focus and yes both passes were caught with one going for a touchdown. The fault of the touchdown can be disputed though and even Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau said just this week

Episode #57 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I open up by discussing the current labor situation. While this isn't the most entertaining topic, we try to give you a short recap of where things stand now and what dates are important in the immediate future.
Turning to on-the-field issues we discuss the undrafted free agents and how the teams around the league will have much more time to review film and decide which guys to sign once the lockout is lifted. Is this good (more money) or bad (much harder to make the team)?
We move on to the Jim Wexell tweet that Daniel Snyder had

Thanks to the social media world we live in, words and news move at a press of a button and are instantly in front of a million eye balls. The main stream media and we bloggers alike are in a hurry to break or push out aggregated news as fast as we can along with our own thoughts, views and breakdowns of the event to satisfy our readership. Everyone is in a race to be the first to report news or to provide one nugget more of information that no one else has. It is the nature of the beast in the media world and it has not changed since newspapers and media came about.
Over time we rely on what

A little fun on a Friday I suppose or perhaps I have entirely too much time on my hands. A funny thing caught my eye this morning on a Post Gazette blog post by Gerry Dulac in which he emphatically states that if Steelers free agent offensive lineman Willie Colon is back with the team in 2011, he will not be moving to guard. Dulac claims that this misguided notion that several of us have had is rooted solely on the body type of Colon and as Dulac says, "specifically, that his short arms make it difficult for him to play tackle and make it more conducive to play guard, where you don’t have to

We are right about half way home to the 2011 NFL Draft and it is a perfect time to look over the pre draft visitors that the Steelers reportedly have had or will have visit the South Side prior to draft day. The organization has been more tight lipped thus far this offseason about their visitors, so there is a chance that it may include a false report or two, but should be fairly accurate up until this point. In addition, Jim Wexell tweeted not long ago today that they will likely loosen up on the policy soon, so more confirmation should be forthcoming.
An early look at the list confirms what

Jim Wexell of Steel City Insider reported today on Twitter that Steelers rookie center Maurkice Pouncey is still on crutches and has his injured left ankle in a cast of sorts. Wexell reported that it looked like a hard cast and said that Pouncey did not know when it was coming off. Pouncey is said to have suffered a high ankle sprain during the first drive Sunday against the New York Jets in the AFC Championship Game. The degree of the sprain is not known and ESPN medical expert Stephania Bell said today that Pouncey returning to the Steelers for Super Bowl XLV is not impossible, but will

Rookie wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is expected to be active on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns and return punts on a situational basis according to a tweet by Jim Wexell Thursday afternoon. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin hinted that Sanders could indeed be inline for a gameday hat this weekend and at the least share duties with Antwaan Randle El. El would likely handle returns when backed up against the goal-line or any other crucial situation. It is still unclear at this point if fellow rookie wide receiver Antonio Brown will be active again this week. Brown has been active since week

Buccaneers rookie Cody Grimm will replace Tanard Jackson at the starting free safety position against the Steelers on Sunday, Tampa Bay coach Raheem Morris said. If the last name sounds familiar, it is because he is indeed the son of Hall of Fame offensive lineman and former Steelers and Cardinals assistant coach Russ Grimm.
The pregame release for the Buccaneers game this Sunday and ready to peruse. This is a must read every week for a true Steelers fan. I love these things.
Steelers left guard Chris Kemoeatu said he "definitely" will play on Sunday even though he hurt his left knee Thursday

Steelers free safety Ryan Clark joined 93.7 The Fan and talked about the Steelers win in week 1 over the Atlanta Falcons as well previewed the Week 2 game against the Tennessee Titans and how the team will handle Chris Johnson, and Vince Young.
Jim Wexell goes over the great record that backup nose tackle Chris Hoke has when starting in place of an injured Casey Hampton and how he still feers failure after all of these years.

Many folks do not like Mike Florio, but yet all of them visit his site at ProFootballTalk.com. Florio gave an excellent interview on the LaVar and Dukes radio show defending social media and small bloggers everywhere in light of the Mike Wise fiasco. Make sure to listen to the first two audio podcast. Speaking of Wise, the Washington Post sportswriter and columnist was suspended Tuesday for one month for his hoax.
Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review did an exclusive one-on-one interview with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger that you can hear below and Brown recaps it here as well.

Steelers rookie Maurkice Pouncey thinks he may get his first action on Saturday against Detroit at center in relief of Justin Hartwig or Doug Legursky. Tomlin did say thought that Pouncey will see time at both center and right guard during the game.
While we are on the offensive line, Steelers offensive line coach Sean Kugler talked with 93.7 The Fan reporter, Jim Colony, about the progress of camp so far in his first year as offensive line coach with the Steelers.
Jim Wexell writes about the plight of kick returner Stefan Logan to once again make the 53 man roster as an undrafted kick return
