Report: Todd Haley Frontrunner For Steelers Offensive Coordinator Job


Alby Oxenreiter, Sports Director for WPXI, tweets this afternoon that it is his understanding that former Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley is the frontrunner for the Pittsburgh Steelers open offensive coordinator job. Since it was announced two weeks ago that Bruce Arians would not return for 2012, Haley was the only interview that has been 100% acknowledged by the Steelers website. Steelers RB Coach Kirby Wilson Has Started Physical Rehabilitation

The Pittsburgh Steelers have updated the status of running backs coach Kirby Wilson on Wednesday afternoon via a short statement on behalf of the family of Wilson. The Statement reads, “Mr. Wilson remains in serious condition in the Trauma Burn Center at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh. His status is stable, and he has started his physical rehabilitation. The Wilson family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support.” Wilson reportedly suffered burns over 45 percent of his body in an early morning fire at his house in suburban Pittsburgh back on January 7th. Report: Bruce Arians May Not Return As Steelers Offensive Coordinator In 2012

Gerry Dulac is reporting tonight that Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians might not return in 2012. Dulac reports that it is unclear if Arians is retiring or is just not having his contract renewed at this time. Arians has been the Steelers offensive coordinator since 2007 and was the Steelers wide receivers coach from 2004–2006. Steelers RB Coach Kirby Wilson Remains In Critical Condition, Family Releases Statement

The family of Pittsburgh Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson released a statement today to update everyone on his condition. Wilson, who was severely burned during an early morning fire on Jan. 6 at his home, remains hospitalized in critical condition in the Trauma Burn Center at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh according to the release. Wilson sustained burns to over 45 percent of his body in the fire as well as smoke inhalation injuries. The release states that he will need multiple surgeries going forward in his recovery. Steelers RB Coach Kirby Wilson Badly Burned In House Fire

Pittsburgh Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson was badly burned in a house fire in Seven Fields, Butler County according to WPXI TV. He was flown to a Pittsburgh-area hospital and there is no word on his condition. The house fire reportedly started shortly before 3 a.m. on Friday. Wilson was hired on Jan. 29, 2007, came to Pittsburgh with 19 years of coaching experience at both the collegiate and professional levels. It seems that we can put to bed the speculation that Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians could have interest in leaving to coach at Ole Miss, as he pretty much dismissed that speculation today when he talked to the media. The news surfaced last night that Steelers quarterback coach Randy Fichtner could have interest in the Memphis Tigers vacant head coaching job and now it is being reported that Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson will interview for the vacant Illinois Illini head coaching job. John Clay Walk-off Incident Called Misunderstanding With Coaches

Mark Kaboly and Ed Bouchette both report via Twitter that the Monday incident of undrafted rookie running back John Clay walking off the field was a simple misunderstanding by Clay. Reportedly running backs coach Kirby Wilson told Clay to leave after making a mistake and Clay thought he meant go to locker room. Clay walked towards the lockerroom and was tracked down by a Steelers staffer and told to return. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced today in his weekly press conference that rookie 6th round draft pick running back Jonathan Dwyer is doubtful to play Saturday night versus the Giants with a shoulder injury he suffered against Detroit last week.
