The Steelers signed rookie offensive lineman, Kraig Urbik, to a three year contract on Monday. Urbik was the first of three third round draft picks selected by the Steelers in the 2009 NFL draft. The Steelers now have 8 of 9 draft picks signed with only first round pick, Ziggy Hood, unsigned.

The Daily Record has a story on undrafted rookie quarterback, Mike Reilly, and his attempt to make the Steelers roster.
Scott Brown of the Tribune-Review seems to think draft pick Kraig Urbik will sign soon with Ziggy Hood bringing up the rear at the beginning of training camp. He thinks the Steelers will wait for a few teams who drafted ahead of them in round one, set the market value for Hood.

The Steelers officially released six players on Thursday. Released were defensive end Jeff Bradley, long-snapper Mark Estermyer, wide receiver Jayson Foster, wide receiver Cedric Goodman, quarterback Kevin McCabe and fullback Ryan Powdrell. This brings the roster number down to 81 at the time. The Steelers will need to release 1 more player to get to the 80 limit by training camp. This will likely happen when either Ziggy Wood, Kraig Urbik or David Johnson officially sign.

The Steelers came into the second day of the draft with eight picks to make and I surely did not think they would finish the day with eight players picked. I thought they would package a few to move up earlier in a round. Maybe they tried and just did not have what teams wanted to move up. Regardless, we can now welcome eight additional players to the Steelers fold to join Evander "Ziggy" Hood who was drafted on Saturday.

The Steelers drafted tackle Kraig Urbik, from Wisconsin with their first of three 3rd round picks of the 2009 NFL draft. The pick was the 78th overall and the 15th pick of the third round acquired on day one from the Broncos.
Urbik is a 6'5", 328 lb offensive lineman.

Bench Press : 29.0 reps
Vertical Jump : 24.0 inches
Broad Jump : 94.0 inches
