We now know the 2012 Pro Football Hall of Fame class, and it even includes a couple of former Pittsburgh Steelers players in center Dermontti Dawson and defensive back Jack Butler. Dawson was one of the 15 modern era finalist, while Butler was one of the two senior finalist that made the 2012 final cut. Of course Dawson and Butler were not the only two former Steelers that were finalist this year as running back Jerome Bettis and linebacker/defensive Kevin Greene were also included in the list of 15 modern day finalist. Neither however made the cut down to 10 this time around. Immediately after Read more [...]
Let's not sugar coat this game. This is for the right to go to Dallas and play in Super Bowl XLV. The Steelers get the luxury of playing at home on Heinz Field on a freezing Pittsburgh night. The Jets are coming off a big win against their division rival. This will be a slobber-knocker of game for sure. Below are what we deem to be 7 keys to the game for the Steelers to beat the Jets and advance to Super Bowl XLV. Get Heathy - Heath Miller missed the week 15 game against the Jets because of a concussion suffered against the Ravens. He was missed dearly. His replacement, Matt Spaeth, was targeted Read more [...]
So much good can come out of this AFC battle should the Steelers win, but they will have to do it without All-World strong safety Troy Polamalu. The game is a near must win for the Jets to stay alive in the AFC Wild Card picture. This game will be a defensive battle for sure and points will be a premium. Below are what we deem to be 7 keys to the game for the Steelers to beat the Jets in week 15. Hunt The Hunter - The Jets will start Wayne Hunter at right tackle in the place of the injured Damien Woody and LaMarr Woodley must be licking his lips prior to the game. Hunter gave up 3 sacks to the Read more [...]
The Steelers practiced again on Thursday in preparation for their week 15 game on Sunday against the New York Jets. Carl Prine of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review has some what of a time line going on the night Ben Roethlisberger was accused of sexual assault. What does all this mean? Absolutely nothing other than Ben likes sushi. As we reported last night, free agent linebacker Larry Foote is in town today and likely will be signed back to the Black & Gold by the end of the day if things go as expected. I am not too sure what the Browns are doing, but I like it. They have signed quarterback Jake Delhomme and sent a conditional 2011 draft choice to the Seahawks for quarterback Seneca Wallace. They also traded Read more [...]
A big thumbs up to all that supported Steelers Depot in the 2010 Pittsburgh Sports Blog Tournament. I think we surprised a ton of folks by making it to the final 4. I doubt we will sneak in as a #8 seed next year. Hopefully next year we can make it to the finals. Thanks for everyone's Tweets and emails. You can see the Finals here and vote. LaDanian Tomlinson Will Not Be On Steelers Radar

I know the Chargers early release of running back LaDanian Tomlinson might have been a shock to some, but as soon as it happened, the fans of 31 other teams started pondering what LT would look like in their teams colors. One uniform I guarantee you will not see him in, is a Steelers uniform. As sexy as it seems to have LT teamed up with Rashard Mendenhall in the backfield, you can get that thought out of your head right now. First, LT is on the wrong side of 30 with declining skills and productivity. Second, the price tag regardless of what it is will still be too expensive for the Steelers, Read more [...]

The San Diego Chargers visit Heinz Field to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers this evening. The Chargers will likely be without the services of running back LaDainian Tomlinson and will rely on a mixture of running backs Darren Sproles and Michael Bennett. The Steelers run defense is ranked second in the league, allowing just 80.2 yards a game. Quarterback Philip Rivers will look to work the ball into tight end Antonio Gates underneath and receivers Vincent Jackson and Chris Chambers along the corners. They key to the Chargers on offense will be to get Sproles involved in the screen and keep the Read more [...]

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media on Tuesday in preparation for the playoff match-up this Sunday against the San Diego Chargers. Tomlin said the Steelers are preparing as if LaDainian Tomlinson will play and will be ready for both running backs. Tomlin said the Chargers have a great screen game that needs paying attention to.
