Mike Bires of the Beaver County Times has a profile article on Bronko Doug Legursky. Sean Kugler loves the guy and calls him one of the strongest guys on the line. His position versatility also will likely help his chances of making the 53 man roster once again. Gerry Dulac of the Post-Gazette seems to think linebackers Patrick Bailey, Thaddeus Gibson and Stevenson Sylvester are battling for one open linebacker roster spot. I disagree and think there are actually two spots open and Bailey is not even in the mix. As much as I like the play of Keyaron Fox, I do not think he can be considered a Read more [...]
Gerry Dulac goes over the tough time rookie linebacker Jason Worilds is having staying on the field and keeping up to speed with the new defensive wrinkles coming at him daily. Worild's hamstring began to deteriorate toward again on Tuesday by the end of practice and you have to wonder if he will even dress Saturday at this point. Dulac filed a video report as well on Tuesday in which he talks a little more about Worilds and center Doug Legursky who is having a great training camp. He also covers Stefan Logan and his fight to keep his roster spot. [flv:http://flash.video.worldnow.com/pittpg/PITTPG_1008201014441496374B.flv Read more [...]
Doug Farrar has a great two part feature story on defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau, who will be going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend. Read part 1 and part 2 on Yahoo. Scott Brown blogged that inside linebacker James Farrior has not lost a step, but was merely out of position last year, but out of position a couple of times at the wrong time, according to linebacker coach Keith Butler. I think it was a combination of both and hope Potsie can get back to his old form. Ron Cook also has a great read as well on Farrior in the PPG. Mike Bires of the Beaver County Times writes Read more [...]

I have organized all of our training camp information into one handy 2010 Steelers Training Camp Fan Guide, so you can click around and get caught up on the greatest team in football. Scott Brown blogged that Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau is still going strong at 72 and retiring seems no where in the future as of now. Long Live LeBeau. John Harris talks to cornerbacks Bryant McFadden, Ike Taylor and William Gay about the need for the Steelers to make more splash plays on defense in 2010 and more specifically in the secondary. This group has been training together down in Florida. John Grupp, caught up with Steelers legend Frenchy Fuqua one day after former Oakland Raiders Pro Bowl safety Jack Tatum died from a heart attack, Fuqua, once again, declined to publicly discuss one of the most famous plays in NFL history. The two will be forever linked together by the Immaculate Reception in the 1972 playoffs at Three Rivers Stadium Read more [...]
There is a lull in the mini camps right now, but Mike Bires of the Beaver County Times has a look at the running back unit where youth is running ramp-it. Running backs coach Kirby Wilson says the group is the youngest that he has had his 13 seasons in the NFL. Steelers kicker Jeff Reed joined John Seibel on the Seibel and Starkey show on Friday and talks about the Big 12, his next 7 weeks of training and his recent clearing of charges after finishing 40 hours of community service. Reed says his contract negotiations are at a standstill right now. Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward joined Read more [...]
Missouri linebacker Sean Weatherspoon has caught the Steelers eye as expected. He could be a guy the Steelers have an eye on in round one. Mike Bires does not think the new contract that head coach Mike Tomlin gets over the next few weeks will come close to what ex-Steelers and current Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt just received. Remember Mike Kudla? He was once with the Steelers. Mike Sando of ESPN.com analyzed the 25 best combine performers in six key categories since 2000. The performances show how important and unimportant raw ability and stats can be. Rich Eisen Read more [...]
Mike Bires of the Beaver County Times recounts the surreal day yesterday in Pittsburgh with the Ben Roethlisberger press conference. Steeler fans also weigh in on the Big Ben statement. Ron Cook of the Post-Gazette explains how he thinks the Ben Roethlisberger situation will not greatly impact the Steelers going into training camp. In the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine, safety Troy Polamalu is listed as one of the worlds most fearless athletes. He is referenced as the "NFL's Heat-Seeking Missile". Steelers.com has posted part 2 of the fan Q & A with rookie receiver Mike Wallace and Read more [...]

Steelers.com has posted part 2 of the Q & A with rookie corner Joe Burnett and part 1 of the Q & A with rookie receiver, Mike Wallace. Chris Steuber ranks the Steelers Top 10 prospects in his piece for Steel City Insiders. I found it hard to swallow that both Dennis Dixon and Limas Sweed are both ranked above William Gay and that Read more [...]
The contract signed by offensive tackle Max Starks on Tuesday, will reportedly create about $2 million in salary-cap room for this year. Speaking of the Steelers salary cap, I have updated my salary cap numbers to reflect the current cap situation. These numbers are not exact, but should be close. Currently I have the team at around 9 million under the cap. Mike Bires thinks the Steelers will likely try to finalize a new deal soon with tight end Heath Miller, who’s in the last year of his contract. Hopefully this can be wrapped up by training camp. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is looking Read more [...]
Ed Bouchette has another story on cornerback William Gay and the pressure put on him to take over the spot left vacant by Bryant McFadden. Gay has been a popular guy in the media this off season. ESPN blogger, James Walker, takes a look at the AFC North interior defensive lineman. Walker goes on to rank Haloti Ngata over Casey Hampton. I am sure Hampton would rather collect Super Bowl rings though and not blogger awards. Teresa Varley of Steelers.com has a piece on Limas Sweed and his fight for the number three receiver spot. Mike Bires has a column on Steelers rookie wideout, Mike Wallace, Read more [...]
The son of Steelers linebacker James Harrison has been released from hospital this morning and is doing well according to reports. Mundy has been working at both strong and free safety positions. Several Steelers did not attend Tuesday’s OTA workout. Among them were nose tackle Casey Hampton, defensive end Brett Keisel and wide receiver Santonio Holmes. Also missing were backup cornerback Deshea Townsend and backup safety Tyrone Read more [...]
