Perhaps the biggest news to come out of the Thursday Mike Tomlin press conference was the word that Jonathan Scott would work at right tackle with the first-string offense after Flozell Adams exits. We broke down Adams 11 snaps earlier in the week and he was not even close with his pass blocking. Adams hopefully will improve leaps and bounds this week as we will be watching both very closely. The fact is that neither measure up to Willie Colon thus far from where we are standing.

Mike Florio was on 93.7 The Fan a week ago and was talking about the LaMarr Woodley contract situation. Florio had a quote that intrigued me when he said, “Is it the system or is it the player? Sometimes they decide it’s the player and they pay the player. Sometimes they decide it’s the system and they let the player walk away.” I went back and compiled the stats of Steelers left outside linebackers going back to 1994 and the numbers have been fairly consistent for the most part over the years. For years that players did not start all 16 games, I added the stats of the players that started

You can tell it is the lull before training camp as bloggers, news outlets and online sports media persona's scrape for any topical subject to write or speculate about in order to bring visitors to their sites. I guess you can add this very post on to the heap, but only in hopes of squashing all of this stupid speculation of Terrell Owens landing with the Steelers. The notion was put into motion in a Sporting News article by the rumor flogging writer Mike Florio, who runs Pro Football Talk. In Florio's defense he does break a ton of news, but he is better known for sensationalizing topics and speculating

Joe Linta, the agent for Steelers offensive tackle Willie Colon, was interviewed by The FAN’s John Seibel on Wednesday to discuss how the surgery on Colon went and his furture going forward as he will remain a restricted free agent going into 2011. The injury has devastated Colon who was looking at a chance at his one huge pay day, should he have had a good season this year. You have to feel bad for poor Willie as he was hurt by the NFL not having a CBA in place this year as we mentioned a few days ago.
