Rookie defensive end Cameron Heyward was on 93.7 The Fan this morning to discuss his first four regular season games with the Steelers. You can add Steelers running back Mewelde Moore to the list of walking wounded following the Steelers loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday as Mike Prisuta is reporting via Twitter that Moore exited the Steelers facility this morning in a walking boot. This makes two running backs injured yesterday as Rashard Mendenhall left the game yesterday with a hamstring injury. This now leaves the Steelers with just two healthy running backs in the form of Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer. Dwyer has been inactive for the first four games of the season. The Moore injury was not reveled by Steelers head coach Read more [...]
Two former Steelers from training camp are in the news as the family of safety Brett Greenwood says he is improving after suffering a heart attack and cornerback Donovan Warren was released yesterday from the Lions practice squad. Seahawks defensive end Raheem Brock was fined $15K for his hit on Ben Roethlisberger this past Sunday and I have proof that he lunged after hitting the ground. Bob Labriola and Mike Prisuta have their latest agree or disagree segment up on steelers.com as they discuss Isaac Redman and Bryant McFadden along with a few other topics. Scott Brown has the transcript Read more [...]

Trai Essex Visiting With Steelers Today

Mike Prisuta is reporting via Twitter that Trai Essex is visiting the South Side today. Prisuta says that Essex is there to pick up his AFC Championship watch and, perhaps, do some business. According to his tweet, Essex said, "We'll see." Essex was one of the few unrestricted free agents that the Steelers chose not to re-sign once the free agency period opened following the lockout. Last year he saw stints at both guard and tackle after opening the season as the starting right guard spot. He was sidelined briefly with an ankle injury early in the season and ended serving as a backup once he Read more [...]

The Steelers got back to business on Sunday after their 16-7 loss Friday night to the Redskins as they held a morning and afternoon practice on Sunday. Here some notes leading up to practice today. I have both the offensive and defensive participation charts up from Friday night as well as the offensive line and blocking report from the game. Kelly was originally drafted by the Falcons in the second round of the 1999 NFL Draft and played his first four seasons in Atlanta before signing with the Bengals as an unrestricted free agent in 2003. He suffered a ruptured left Achilles' tendon prior to the start of the 2009 season and the Bengals were forced to place him on injured reserve. Kelly returned in 2010 for the Bengals and played in all 16 regular season games. He recorded just 10 catches for 42 yards in just Read more [...]

Steelers 2011 Training Camp – Day Six Recap

Day 6 of Steelers training camp is in the books and this post will serve as your daily recap of the comings and goings from Tuesday at Latrobe. The morning started with the announcement that long snapper Greg Warren had agreed to terms. The Steelers only had one long snapper in camp in the form of Derek Chard and Warren now appears to be the odds on favorite to continue his role as the long snapper. This now means that all of 2010 specialist are back on the roster in Warren, Daniel Sepulveda, Shaun Suisham and Jeremy Kapinos. Sepulveda is the odds on favorite to beat out Kapinos if indeed he Read more [...]

Steelers 2011 Training Camp – Day Four Recap

Sunday was day 4 of Steelers training camp and once again the news got off to an early start as the Plaxico Burress watch is now over after he agreed to terms on a one year deal with the Jets for a little over $3 million. Perhaps the trip to Pittsburgh was just a ploy to drive his price tag up, but I am willing to bet the Steelers were not in the ballpark money wise. Whatever the reason was, it doesn't matter at this point. The next bit of news we got right before practice started is that the Steelers had agreed to terms with cornerback William Gay on a one-year deal. No terms were announce, but Read more [...]
