The latest power rankings are out on ESPN.com and this week the ESPN NFL blogger crew tackles the head coaches. Bill Belichick ran away with the number one ranking as he garnered the number one spot on all eight of the bloggers score cards. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin finished second as he nabbed four second place votes and two third place votes. John Clayton ranked him 5th while Mike Sando had Tomlin 6th. I can't wait to read that reasoning. ETA: Sando claims Tomlin works for a strong organization and that worked against him in this ranking.

Ed Bouchette reports that running back Frank Summers has been working out daily and is recovering nicely from back surgery. Summers could be in the plans as a short yardage guy if he has a great camp.
Bouchette also reports that head coach Mike Tomlin is not high on USC safety Taylor Mays and that with the offseason signings and re-signings, the Steelers no longer have an interest in drafting a safety on the first round.

In a shocking move the Steelers have agreed to terms with Sean Kugler to become the new offensive line coach. Kugler was part of a Buffalo Bills staff that has been allowed to interview for other jobs while they search for a new head coach. The Steelers fired offensive line coach Larry Zierlein after the season. Kugler was promoted to offensive line coach for Buffalo in January 2008 and coached left tackle Jason Peters to his second consecutive Pro Bowl. Kugler previously served as the Bills assistant offensive line coach, working primarily with the tackles.
