Hines Ward’s Future Up In Proverbial Air

Hines Ward’s future with the Steelers is on the decision block and his future with the team will most likely be decided on March 1. 2012, due to a roster bonus he is due. At the Super Bowl media center Thursday, Ward was adamant that he’d be with the Steelers. It’s true that in the last year of Bruce Arians’ offense, Ward was devalued, but Arians is gone and that may or may not bode well for the 14-year veteran out of Georgia. Ward is scheduled to earn $4 million in the last two years of his contract, and has insisted he’s willing to take a cut to stay with the team. According to the Pittsburgh Read more [...]

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin also has reportedly had interest in Jim Caldwell, Alex Van Pelt and Hue Jackson as well, but if any of those interviews actually did take place, they only have fringe confirmation Read more [...]

Don’t Count Out Koogs

By Jeremy Hritz Jim Irsay, who is becoming more eccentric with each passing day, and the Indianapolis Colts wasted no time in hiring a replacement head coach for Jim Caldwell. Some Steelers’ fans may be looking at the Colts with envy, not because the history and tradition of the Colts’ franchise, but because of the swiftness that Read more [...]

Rumor: Mike Tomlin Considering Adding Former WVU Head Coach Bill Stewart To Staff

This is in no way substantiated, so for now you must consider it a rumor that is growing legs from a questionable source. I usually don’t deal in this type of rumor mongering, but it does make a little sense based on connecting the dots. The rumor is that Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has interviewed, or is going to interview, former West Virginia head coach Bill Stewart for a spot on his staff. It could be an interview for the vacant offensive coordinator position or perhaps as quarterbacks coach should Randy Fichtner end up being promoted. We just do not know that answer and are Read more [...]

Bob Labriola recently sat down for the second part of his one-on-one interview with Pittsburgh Steelers President Art Rooney II and Rooney answered questions about full time officials, the new Steelers NIKE uniforms for 2012 as well as new throwback uniforms for next season as well. Labriola made sure to hit on the recent departure of offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, and while Rooney seemed to dance around the question at first, he then seemed comfortable pinning the reasoning on the Arians on again, off again retirement talk. He did however state how they were looking to improve the offense. Read more [...]

Steelers Offensive Coordinator Candidate Randy Fichtner – The Memphis Tiger Years

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterbacks coach Randy Fichtner has been at the top of my potential candidates to replace Bruce Arians as the offensive coordinator since it was announced that Arians would not return in 2012. The reasons are obvious as he already has a good grasp of the talent on the Steelers roster, he has a good relationship with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and he has had an association with head coach Mike Tomlin dating back to 1998 when they both were on the Arkansas State coaching staff. Tomlin in fact hired Fichtner to his staff when he was hired back in 2007. Fichtner also runs Read more [...]
