All of the Steelers brass is down in Orlando for the NFL owners meetings and the media is doing their best to catch back up with Art Rooney II, Kevin Colbert and Mike Tomlin. The NFL announced today that the Steelers will receive three compensatory picks for the upcoming 2010 NFL draft. Just as I predicted the Steelers will get two 5th round picks and one 7th round pick for the 2009 free agent loses of wide receiver Nate Washington, cornerback Bryant McFadden and quarterback Byron Leftwich in free agency last year. Washington and McFadden both qualified as 5th round compensatory picks, while Leftwich qualified for a 7th round compensatory pick. Head coach Mike Tomlin said on Thursday that second-year receiver Limas Sweed does not have the inside track on the No. 3 wide receiver spot and in fact said the No. 3 receiver job vacated by Nate Washington is wide open. The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with Steelers free agent wide receiver Nate Washington on Monday. Terms of the contract are not yet known. Washington caught 40 passes for 631 yards and three touchdowns last season with the Steelers.
