Season 2, Episode 9 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I continue with our discussion of the Steelers roster battles while talking a look back at the team's dominating win over the Philadelphia Eagles this past Thursday. As you might imagine, mostly glowing reviews, but concerns remain over the corner position and how the 51st, 52nd & 53rd spots are likely to play out. We also briefly discuss the breaking news that Terrelle Pryor was taken in the 3rd round of the supplemental draft by the Oakland Raiders.
In Part 2 we are joined by long-time Steelers beat writer for the Pittsburgh

I hate to beat a dead horse. OK, who am I kidding, I love beating dead horses, especially when it proves my point. A great story by Ebenezer Samuel of the New York Daily News just hit the wire tonight and it details the behind-the-scenes-look on how Steelers unrestricted free agent tackle Willie Colon landed a new deal with the Steelers recently.
In the article Samuel reports how Bears offensive line coach Mike Tice was pushing for Colon to sign with the Bears, but Tice wanted Colon to move inside to guard. Sound familiar? It should if you have been reading my post all offseason as I have been

Steelers linebacker James Harrison will discuss his recent comments he made in Men's Journal magazine about NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, fellow teammates and other current and former players on SportsCenter this evening.
Jason Romano, the Senior Talent Producer for ESPN, reported via Twitter a short time ago that he had confirmed a live interview with Harrison for 6:05 eastern time this evening on World Wide Leader in Sports.
Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reported this morning that Harrison’s agent, Bill Parise, tried to downplay the severity of the comments this morning

According to the DeKalb County Police reports filed on the arrest of Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward for DUI, Ward failed a series of sobriety tests administered by Officer Robert Catalano according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Ward reportedly swayed back and forth and was getting agitated while the officer conducted the evaluation. Ward consented to a portable breath test at the scene that showed the presence of alcohol but refused a state-administered breathalyzer according to report. The portable breath test recorded a blood-alcohol content of .128 percent, the report states. The legal

The long awaited statement regarding the early Saturday morning arrest of Hines Ward on suspicion of DUI has finally surfaced as Ward's manager, Andrew Ree, claims in a statement that Ward wasn't impaired. He also said that Ward is deeply saddened by this incident and apologizes to his fans and the Steelers organization for this distraction.
Below is the full statement as it is printed in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette:
"On July 9th Hines Ward was stopped by Dekalb Co. police for suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence. He cooperated fully with the police and truthfully answered

Another day and yet another Tiki story.
Last night Tom Pedulla of USA Today had a story on running back Tiki Barber and how his short list of teams that he wanted to sign with included the Steelers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This afternoon Ira Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune blogged that the Bucs will have no interest in signing Barber whenever free agency opens, as he doesn’t fit in with the current youth movement taking place in Tampa.
Barber's agent, Mark Lepselter said on WFAN last month that two teams had shown significant interest in Barber and it is indeed looking more and more like

Several teams might be possible suitors for free agent Willie Colon as he is looking for a fair deal according to Scott Brown. Although Colon would rather stay at tackle, he is not opposed to moving to guard if he returns. Colon, said. "We pull (left guard) Chris Kemoeatu so much that if I was to move to guard, I know I could add some balance. Colon's agent does not expect to hear from the Steelers about a new contract once the lockout ends.
Jason La Canfora and Elliot Harrison of NFL.com debate if Troy Polamalu or Ed Reed the best safety in the league. There of course is a reader poll you can

The news last week that Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger might require surgery on the foot he injured last year, has received quite a bit of attention in the media over the last few days as several interpreted the story as some sort of breaking news. The news however is to no concern to Roethlisberger's agent or wide receiver Hines Ward.
Ryan Tollner, Ben's agent, told the Pittsburgh Post Gazette today that there is nothing new to report. "There's nothing new there," Tollner said. "The doctors elected not to do surgery and to let it heal. If it ever got worse, they might have to do

Steelers tackle Willie Colon was on Sirius NFL Radio this morning and told host Ross Tucker that he still wants to play for the Steelers even though they've passed up multiple opportunities to extend his contract. Colon told Tucker, "The Steelers do things their own way, and I'm not worried about the money. I just like being a mean SOB on Sundays." Colon went on to also say, "I'm chasing Super Bowl rings, not wedding rings."
The way the new CBA is shaping up, it looks almost certain that Colon will finally get his chance to become an unrestricted free agent after missing out on being unrestricted

WDVE reporter Mike Prisuta reported on Twitter this morning that Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger told him today that the offense has indeed held players-only workouts since the lockout started. This confirms the news that wide receiver Limas Sweed told us on the Terrible Podcast a few weeks ago as well as the report that wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders also had gotten together with the offense as well during the offseason to take part in some pitch and catch with other members of the Steelers offense.
Roethlisberger has been good about texting and emailing players, according to Sweed,

It has been a few weeks since I posted about the recovery of Steelers second year wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders who underwent surgeries on both of his feet since Super Bowl XLV. In the last update in late May, it was reported that Sanders worked out with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and a few other teammates in Pittsburgh and that his left foot was on schedule to be healed by late June as he had just shed his protective boot.
There is now an update from Gerry Dulac from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette tonight on Twitter and Dulac tweeted that Sanders was spotted playing golf now. Dulac references

The well awaited conference call between NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the Steelers season ticket holders took place this afternoon as Goodell fielded several questions regarding the lockout negotiations, rookie pay scale, preseason games, Super Bowl ticket distribution and the fines levied against linebacker James Harrison among several other great questions. The Pittsburgh Post Gazette has audio of the conference call here or you can listen to it below as well.

Steelers beat writer Ed Bouchette reported this afternoon on his blog that Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and his fiance Ashley Harlan have set a wedding date of July 23rd this Summer. Bouchette sat down with Roethlisberger this afternoon for an interview that will likely be posted very soon on the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. The news broke in early January of his engagement to Harlan after he reportedly popped the question on Christmas Day. According to Bouchette, the two have yet to decide on a location for their nuptials, but it surely will be a huge event somewhere in Pittsburgh. Look

Mark Kaboly writes that the future may be now for Maurkice Pouncey at center and judging by his play Saturday, I totally agree. I suggested long ago that Justin Hartwig was not a lock to make the 53 man roster and Pouncey is making it more likely he won't. Sure it was just one game, but it was an impressive one at that.
Mark Madden reminds everyone settle down and that it's just one preseason game. Madden goes on to state the obvious that Byron Leftwich will be the starting quarterback come week one, even if Leftwich stinks in the remaining exhibitions. As far as Flozell Adams goes at right
