The New England Patriots clinched the #1 seed in the AFC and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs today with their come from behind win against the Buffalo Bills. The Patriots trailed 21-0 before rattling off 49 unanswered points for a 49-21 win to end the regular season at 13-3.
The win by the Patriots means that the Pittsburgh Steelers can only get either the #2 seed or #5 seed in the AFC depending on what happens with their own game against the Cleveland Browns and the outcome of the Baltimore Ravens game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Steelers can still clinch the AFC North

We are down to the last week of regular season games in the 2011 NFL season and there are still 3 playoff spots left up for grabs along with several other week 17 playoff scenarios. Their is also a lot left to be determined as far as some seeding goes as only the Green Bay Packers have locked up home-field advantage through-out the playoffs.
The Pittsburgh Steelers situation I have covered before, but I will recap quickly. If the Steelers beat the Cleveland Browns on Sunday and the Baltimore Ravens lose or tie against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Steelers are AFC North champions and will get

The Pittsburgh Steelers head into their Monday night game against the San Francisco 49ers knowing that they now control their own destiny in regards to the number one seed in the AFC and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The chance to control their own destiny comes after the Baltimore Ravens lost tonight 34-14 on the road to the San Diego Chargers, and that loss now drops them to 10-4 on the season. That loss combined with the Houston Texans loss earlier in the day against the Carolina Panthers now means that the Steelers could have a full game lead on both teams if they can take care

The New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens both clinched spots in the 2011 playoffs this evening as the Patriots beat the Denver Broncos 41-23 in Denver to clinch the AFC East, and the Ravens clinched a playoff spot in addition. There were several scenarios that could have helped the Ravens today and they had their pick of them to choose from as the Broncos, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders and Tennessee Titans all lost today.
Heading into the weekend only the Houston Texans had clinched a playoff spot on the AFC side and they were joined by the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier in the day as

The Pittsburgh Steelers have clinched a spot in the 2011 NFL playoffs thanks to the Indianapolis Colts getting their first win of the season at home against the Tennessee Titans 27-13. The Steelers came into the week with multiple scenarios in place that would have allowed them to clinch a playoff spot. Those scenarios included either them winning Monday night against the San Francisco 49ers, or by the Titans, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders or New York Jets losing today, or a tie by either the Titans or Raiders. The Titans loss did the trick.
The Steelers chances at getting the number 1 seed,

We told you about the Pittsburgh Steelers playoff clinching scenarios for week 15 earlier in the day, but the Steelers are not the only team that has a possibility of clinching a playoff spot in week 15. The New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens can join the Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints as playoff clinching teams this week.
The Packers have already clinched the NFC North and the 49ers can clinch the NFC West. The Packers have a shot at clinching home-field advantage throughout NFC playoffs this week while the Saints can clinch the NFC South.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were not able to clinch in week 14, but the scenarios are below for week 15 that would allow them to clinch a 2011 playoff spot. Several things went their way last including them winning last Thursday night against the Cleveland Browns, but the Denver Broncos overtime win against the Chicago Bears prevented them from clinching a spot last week even after the Cincinnati Bengals had lost to the Houston Texans, the Tennessee Titans lost to New Orleans Saints and the Oakland Raiders lost to the Green Bay Bay Packers.
Here are the week 15 playoff clinching scenarios, as only

Week 14 is now complete for the AFC and we can take quick look at the current standings and the playoff scenarios going forward.
Houston Texans - (10-3) - The Texans clinched the AFC South on Sunday with their win over the Bengals combined with the Titans loss to the Saints. They will finish no worse than the 4th seed now in the AFC. They close out the season with games against the Panthers, Colts and Titans.
Baltimore Ravens - (10-3) - The Ravens control their own destiny still in the AFC North as well as the 1st seed in the AFC should they win out. They have yet to lock up a playoff spot

The Pittsburgh Steelers will have to wait at least another week to clinch a spot in the 2011 playoffs as the Denver Broncos knocked off the Chicago Bears 13-10 in overtime this evening to prevent the Steelers from clinching.
Up until the overtime win by the Broncos the day was shaping up for the Steelers to clinch at least the 6th seed in the AFC at worst after the Houston Texans beat the Cincinnati Bengals, the Green Bay Packers beat the Oakland Raiders and the New Orleans Saints beat the Tennessee Titans. All the Steelers needed this evening was a Bears win over the Broncos and they would

The Pittsburgh Steelers can clinch a playoff spot today following their 14-3 win Thursday night over the Cleveland Browns with some help from a few other teams today. Below are the 3 scenarios that need to happen that I posted last week.
Scenario 1: The Bengals, the Jets and the Titans all must lose.
Scenario 2: The Bengals, the Titans, the Raiders and the Broncos all must lose.
Scenario 3: The Bengals, the Jets, the Raiders and the Broncos all must lose.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a chance to clinch a playoff spot in week 14 and it can happen with 3 different scenarios. The only spot they can clinch this upcoming week is the 6th seed in the AFC as it stands right now. They of course can improve on that going forward. Below are the 3 playoff spot clinching scenarios and they all 3 include them beating the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night. All 3 also include the Cincinnati Bengals losing in week 14 to the Houston Texans. The most likeliest scenario to happen in my opinion is #2. Should that one come to fruition, the Steelers would be 10-3 and

Despite the 22-17 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday evening at Heinz Field, the Steelers were informed after the game that they have clinched an AFC playoff spot thanks to some strength of victory tie breakers. The Steelers can still win the AFC North and clinch a first round bye with wins against the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns in the final 2 games of the season. So all is not lost after a tough loss. and the Steelers have a couple of weeks to earn a week off and get some players rested.
