The Pittsburgh Steelers have promoted running back Chad Spann to the 53 man roster on Tuesday from the practice squad and signed running back Albert Young to the vacant spot on the practice squad. There is no word as of yet to what the corresponding roster move from the 53 man roster was to make room for Spann. The Pittsburgh Steelers filled their open spot on the practice squad today by signing guard John Malecki. There was an open spot after running back John Clay was signed to the 53 man roster on Friday because of the shortage of running backs. Clay was signed and cornerback Curtis Brown was placed on injured reserve. Scott Brown is reporting via Twitter that the Steelers brought in former Auburn running back Tristan Davis for a physical and he could be signed to the practice squad today. Davis was originally signed by the Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2009 and has also played for the Dolphins, Vikings and Saints. Davis measures in at 5-10 and 212 pounds. He is 25 years old. Scott Brown is reporting via Twitter that the Steelers have signed former University of Pittsburgh tight end Dorin Dickerson to the practice squad today. Dickerson worked out for the Steelers last week after being released by the Texan during the final roster cuts. The Texans drafted Dickerson in the 7th round of the 2010 draft and worked to convert him to wide receiver. Every year heading into the final cut-down week fans are curious as to what players are eligible to be placed on the Steelers practice squad.
