Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and reserve wide receiver Dallas Baker are the only two players absent from the organized team activities this week. The Steelers opened their mandatory mini-camp on Friday with everyone in attendance except for linebacker Larry Foote. Foote has asked for his release and thus will not report until traded or released. All players practiced except for wide receiver Hines Ward, safety Ryan Clark and wide receiver Martin Nance. Ward and Clark are still recovering from injuries and there is no word on why Nance had to sit out.

Eight Steeler players were absent from the first of fourteen organized team activities on Monday. OTA sessions are not mandatory, but are encouraged by the coaching staff. Of the eight players listed below, most are expected to attend the post draft mini camp on May 1st.

The Steelers have offered a two year contract to quarterback Byron Leftwich, who spent yesterday visiting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and last week with the Washington Redskins. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said in his post game press conference following the AFC Championship Game win versus the Baltimore Ravens that starting wide receiver Hines Ward will need an MRI on his knee, Monday morning. Ward was injured on a reception in the first quarter of the game. In another war with division rival Baltimore Ravens, the Steelers ended up winning the AFC Championship Game 23-14 to advance to Super Bowl 43 to play the Arizona Cardinals. The game as expected was a hard hitting game, but the Steelers defense once again saved the day. Steelers Week 19 Wednesday Practice Injury Report

The Steelers were back at practice on Wednesday in preparation for the Sunday playoff game versus the San Diego Chargers. WR Hines Ward (Not Injury Related) sat out on Wednesday on his veteran day off. QB Ben Roethlisberger (Concussion) practiced fully on Wednesday as did S Ryan Clark and LB James Harrison.

Steelers head coach was in a no win situation when it came to the decision on whether or not to play the starters against the Cleveland Browns. Steeler Nation is the worse when it comes to armchair coaching. Steelers Week 17 Friday Practice Injury Report

The Steelers wrapped up practice work for the Sunday week 17 game versus the Cleveland Browns. S Ryan Clark (shoulder) sat as expected again on Friday and has long been ruled out against Cleveland. LB James Harrison (hip) missed his third consecutive practice on Friday and is listed as questionable on the injury report, but all signs point to him being held out this week. QB Ben Roethlisberger (ankle) practiced fully again on Friday and is listed as probable.

Steelers Week 17 Thursday Practice Injury Report

The Steelers worked in the afternoon on Thursday. S Ryan Clark (shoulder) and LB James Harrison (hip) did not practice on Thursday. QB Ben Roethlisberger (ankle) practiced fully for the second straight day. RB Willie Parker (not injury related), DE Aaron Smith (not injury related), CB Deshea Townsend (not injury related), WR Hines Ward (not injury related) all returned to practice fully on Thursday after having off on Wednesday.
