The Pittsburgh Steelers offseason roster has started to expand as former Ohio State defensive back Antonio Smith has signed a three year futures contract with the team. Smith was originally signed by the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2007 and has also been a member of the Detroit Lions, San Diego Chargers and Cincinnati Bengals. Some new details are now coming out about what may have led to Pittsburgh Steelers rookie right tackle Marcus Gilbert being benched Saturday against the St. Louis Rams. Steelers Digest editor Bob Labriola said today on his podcast that Gilbert had arrived to the Steelers facility early one morning this past week and had some breakfast prior to a scheduled meeting. I have compiled the Adjusted Net Yards Per Passing Attempt Differential Stats now through week 16 and the Pittsburgh Steelers have slipped down to 4th place in net differential behind the Detroit Lions, who shot up 0.29 this past week in their win over the San Diego Chargers.
