Steelers Six From Around The Web – Thursday July 8th – Linebackers A Plenty Edition

NFL.com Senior Analyst, Pat Kirwan has a great piece up on the importance of outside linebackers in a 3-4 defense. Kirwan tells why the Steelers are so effective at re-loading at the position. Special teams ace Patrick Bailey is learning to fly and is working on his pilot’s license during the offseason. Bailey was re-signed this offseason as an exclusive rights free agent and has his work cut out to make the 53 man roster, especially since the Steelers drafted three more linebackers in April. Speaking of the drafted linebackers, Mike Prisuta talked to NFL scouts about their draft-day grades Read more [...]

Steelers Six From Around The Web – Friday April 30th

Gerry Dulac has a more in depth look at rookie outside linebacker Jason Worilds that includes how he took his mother’s last name and why the Steelers selected him over Penn State inside linebacker Sean Lee. Another day, another Jonathan Dwyer story. This time from Scott Brown of the Tribune-Review. Agent Ralph Cindrich posted the story by SportsBusiness Journal on how the NFL and players union differ on the rookie wage scale. A great read that supports both sides. Steelers.com Teresa Varley has a short article on a few Steelers draft picks as they prepare for their first mini-camp that Read more [...]

Steelers 2010 Day 2 Draft Wrap Up

Day one was excellent in my opinion for the Steelers when they drafted Florida offensive linemen Maurkice Pouncey. Pouncey fit a need can contribute right away more than likely and is versatile. Day 2 of the draft in my opinion was not as fruitful. They started with talk that the Steelers wanted to move up in round 2. Smoke screen? Perhaps, but one really never knows for sure. Either it was a smoke screen or the price was just too much. In my opinion things were going the perfect way for the Black and Gold as a few players were sliding down the board. A lot of the fan base was hoping for Golden Read more [...]

Steelers Round 2 Possibilities With Jackson Off The Board

Now that day one is in the books and the Steelers addressed the offensive line in round one with the selection of Maurkice Pouncey from Florida. It is time to direct the attention to the Steelers 2nd round pick. In my mock draft, I had Kareem Jackson. I knew his stock was on the rise after talking to a few scouts, but thought there was still an outside shot he would slide to round 2. I was resigned to fact that it might take the Steelers moving up to an earlier round 2 pick to get him and feel they were prepared to at least attempt to do so. The Texans ended all of that by taking Jackson just 2 Read more [...]

Steelers Six From Around The Web – Tuesday April 13th

Steelers President Art Rooney II was described as “furious” by some after watching the Monday news conference from Milledgeville, Ga., that detailed in graphic terms some of Ben Roethlisberger’s escapades with a drunken 20-year-old college student. I have a feeling Big Ben will be suspended either by the NFL or the Steelers to start the season. Ben made a statement on Monday, but did not take any questions. The big media city of New York has caught up with Santonio Holmes. They asked him about all the recent postings on his Twitter account and he claims it was not him saying instead his account Read more [...]

Steelers Six From Around The Web – Thursday March 18th

The lawyer representing Andrea McNulty in the Ben Roethlisberger Nevada case may let McNulty talk to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation concerning the Georgia case. Seems both need info to build their cases against Ben. Long ways to go I assume, but this is getting tiresome. Steelers unrestricted free agent running back Willie Parker is scheduled to visit the Rams today. I would be very surprised if he is signed to a deal before the weekend. In fact he very well could be thinking about a return to Pittsburgh by now. The Steelers have scheduled pre draft visits with Penn State linebackers Read more [...]
