The NFL saluted its best players and plays from the 2011 season the night before Super Bowl XLVI with the first annual "NFL Honors" show. The star-studded football and entertainment event was held at Murat Theatre in Indianapolis and it made for a great two-hour primetime awards special that aired on NBC. Alec Baldwin hosted the show that featured a performance from Lenny Kravitz. It was a mix of comedy with awards as seven of the yearly Associated Press awards were handed out. The show was predicted to be a flop, but instead it was very entertaining and it should turn into a yearly red carpet Read more [...]

Don’t Look Back; Look Ahead

By Jeremy Hritz Right now, it still hurts for Steelers fans. Two of our most hated opponents will battle for the AFC crown that we proudly wore last year. And in the NFC, we have to watch the other hated Harbaugh and the Eli Manning-led New York Giants. While Sunday will no doubt be agonizing as it reminds us of what could have been, it is time to move on. And what better way to do so than taking a closer look at the 2012-2013 Steelers' opponents. Opponents’ 2011 Records: 103-105 (.495) 2011 Playoff Opponents on 2012 Schedule: 4 - Baltimore, Cincinnati, Denver, New York Giants Divisional Read more [...]
The Divisional Round of the 2011-2012 playoffs are now in the books and the TOX stat did not let us down this week as the winning teams all had a plus 2 TOX number or better. The Baltimore Ravens let the Houston Texans beat themselves with the 4 turnovers and the Ravens defense allowed just 1 explosive play which was a 28 yard run by Arian Foster. Texans quarterback T.J. Yates could not stretch the field and made several ill-advised throws deep. The Texans were still in this game up until the end, but could never make the big play when they needed it. The New York Giants used a good balance Read more [...]

The Pittsburgh Steelers did not win in Denver this past Sunday against the Denver Broncos in the AFC Wild Card game, but it seems that the NFL joined the Broncos as winners as NFL PR man Greg Aiello reported on Twitter today that the game between the Steelers and the Broncos was the most-watched game of the season, the most-watched Wild Card game ever with 42.4 million viewers and the most-watched TV program since Super Bowl XLV. The high ratings were likely a combination of several things. First you had Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow making his first career playoff start and secondly you had Read more [...]
Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, who lost a friendly wager with Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, made good on the bet today by wearing a Tim Tebow #15 jersey and doing the Tebow pose with the city of Pittsburgh as a backdrop. The photo below is courtesy of Lauren Daley and shows Ravenstahl making good following the Pittsburgh Steelers 29-23 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos this past Sunday in the AFC Wild Card game. Had the Steelers won, Hancock would have had to have worn a Steelers jersey and twirl a Terrible Towel during one of his public events. Ravenstahl said after the loss, "It's certainly Read more [...]
Season 2, Episode 67 of The Terrible Podcast is up and with David Todd back in New York we recap the Pittsburgh Steelers overtime loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Wild Card game. We sort of start our recap backwards and talk about the game winning play on the first play of overtime from Tim Tebow to Demaryius Thomas. It was a great play call against the right defense and Tebow made the throw. We break down the play pretty good along with things that led up to it. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other team. We sure do. After talking about some key injuries suffered in the Read more [...]

Here are the post game quotes on steelers.com from several Steelers players following the overtime loss to the Denver Broncos. Doug Farrar has a good breakdown on what happened on the final pass play from Tim Tebow to Demaryius Thomas. I tweeted after the game I did not think it was cover zero and this, along with the quotes of Ryan Mundy, pretty much make you believe it wasn't. Here are the quotes from the Broncos lockerroom as well as both Tebow and Thomas are quoted. I have posted a quick rundown of the Steelers 2012 free agent class and go through each one by one.
