The Steelers wrapped up their final practice preparations on Friday for their Saturday Divisional round playoff game versus the Baltimore Ravens at Heinz Field. S Troy Polamalu (ankle) and CB Bryant McFadden (abdomen) both participated fully in the Friday walk-through and both are listed on the injury report as probable. DE Aaron Smith (triceps) was limited again as expected and listed as doubtful. RB Mewelde Moore and LB Jason Worilds both practiced fully all week and were never listed on the injury report after both sat out with knee injuries in week against the Browns. With the game rapidly approaching us on Saturday, I thought that this week we would take a look at the crew assigned to the Steelers game and look at the Penalty report of each team coming into the game. The crew assigned to this game is headed by Jeff Triplette who wears the number 42. Triplette is an interesting man, his job outside the game of football is Vice President for Risk Management at Duke Energy in Charlotte, NC. The Steelers got their second practice of the week in on Wednesday and released their first official injury and practice participation report for the upcoming Saturday Divisional Round game against the Baltimore Ravens. S Troy Polamalu (ankle) did not practice, but is slated to work on Thursday by all reports and is in no jeopardy of missing the game Saturday. The Steelers have not had great overall success as a whole running the ball on the Baltimore Ravens this year, but have managed to split the 2 games against them this season. In the two games this season, the Steelers have averaged just 2.79 yards per carry this season on 48 carries by a running back, as shown in the table below. All of the limited success the Steelers have had on the ground against the Ravens has come by running to the right.

The Baltimore Ravens easily knocked of the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday to earn a trip to Pittsburgh to play the Steelers on Saturday in the AFC divisional round of the playoffs. This will be the 3rd meeting between the two teams this season as the two teams split the two regular season games. In week 4, the Ravens won 17-14 in the closing minutes of the game. The Pittsburgh Steelers got off to another slow start against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday night, but rebounded to control the second half and beat the Chargers 35-24. The Steelers running game finally got on track, with running back Willie Parker rushing for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Both the Steelers offense and defense did just enough to attain a 14-10 halftime lead, but the offense opened up the second half with a 13 play drive ending in a Ben Roethlisberger to tight end Heath Miller 7 yard touchdown pass.

With the Baltimore Ravens beating the Tennessee Titans 13-10 today, the Pittsburgh Steelers will host the AFC Championship game should they be able to defeat the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. This would set up a third meeting this season between the Ravens and Steelers in which the Steelers have won both games thus far.

WR Hines Ward (not injury related) returned to practice fully after having his usual day off on Wednesday. QB Ben Roethlisberger (concussion) practiced fully again for the second straight game.
The Steelers may get a bit of a break on Sunday as San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson confirmed on Wednesday that he indeed has a torn tendon in his groin and has listed himself as doubtful for this week.
