The Steelers resumed practice preparations on Thursday for their Sunday night home game against the New England Patriots. S Will Allen (concussion), DE Brett Keisel (hamstring), G Chris Kemoeatu (knee, ankle), TE Heath Miller (knee) and DE Aaron Smith (triceps) did not practice on Thursday. Smith of course has long been ruled out and it is not looking good for Kemoeatu to play this week. He will be replaced by Ramon Foster at left guard. Allen had practiced fully on Wednesday and may have had a setback with his concussion. Miller and Keisel look questionable right now. RB Mewelde Moore (concussion) Read more [...]

The 2010 Steelers are 3-0 and headed back home for their first division game against the Baltimore Ravens next weekend. Lost in the 3 wins to start the season is the depth of the roster and the amount of players that have contributed to their 3-0 start. Through 3 games, the Steelers have had 54 different players on the active roster and of those 54, only 3 have not seen any playing time. Those 3 players are Byron Leftwich and rookies Jonathan Dwyer and Crezdon Butler. Even practice squad defensive lineman Steve McLendon, who was activated for the Titans game, played and contributed greatly in the Read more [...]

Steelers 2010 Season Preview & Prediction

Opening Statement: So much has happened since the final 2009 season game against Miami and the start of the season must be a welcome sight for the Steelers players and coaches. The preseason was a bit of a blur and was overall a success until quarterback Byron Leftwich went down with a MCL injury in the final game against Carolina. The roster has been paired down to 53 and features 8 rookie draft picks and 17 players 30 years of age or over, 10 of which are defensive players. The picture heading into the 2010 season is pretty clear for the Steelers as franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger Read more [...]

Per my normal routine, I have listed below 10 things to look for Sunday heading into the game. Brown Sanders Flip Flop X & Z - The education of rookie wide receivers Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders continues this week as both will play their opposite positions this week as Brown moves from the z flanker position to the x split end spot and Sanders moves from split end X spot to the Z flanker position. Sanders mostly played the slot and flanker in college and looks to be the Read more [...]
The drama of this week is over before it ever got started, as according to Post Gazette beat writer Ed Bouchette, linebacker Lawrence Timmons told a group of reporters on Monday that free safety Ryan Clark will sit out this weeks preseason game in Denver as a precaution. As I mentioned in my Friday blog post on Clark and his medical history in Denver, it seems he will travel with the team, but will not play. Look for Will Allen to get get the start in the absence of Clark and play most of the first half. The extended time will be good for both Allen and Ryan Mundy, who has been very consistent Read more [...]

Steelers safety Troy Polamalu worked with kids attending the Colonial All-Pro Football Camp at William & Mary on Tuesday and said he loves the Steelers being the underdog again. He also goes on to say that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger troubles haven't been a distraction and the Steelers need to get back to playing Steeler football in 2010.
