Steelers Season Ends In 29-23 Overtime Loss To Broncos In AFC Wild Card Game – Game Recap


The Pittsburgh Steelers saw their 2011 season come to an abrupt end Sunday in Denver with 29-23 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Wild Card game. Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow hit wide receiver Demaryius Thomas on the first play in overtime for a game-winning 80-yard touchdown pass to give the Broncos the win. Tebow had 316 passing yards and two touchdowns in the game and the Broncos now advance to play the New England Patriots in a divisional playoff game Saturday night in Foxboro. Mike Tomlin said it best following the Steelers 23-20 win on Sunday versus the Baltimore Ravens. Not dead yet! That is pretty much the long and short of it following an afternoon of some good and bad Steelers football. The Steelers defense, who had been responsible for several 4th quarter collapses this season, did not surrender any 4th quarter points to the Ravens today. Steelers AFC Championship Post Game Injury Report, Hines Ward To Have MRI On Knee

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said in his post game press conference following the AFC Championship Game win versus the Baltimore Ravens that starting wide receiver Hines Ward will need an MRI on his knee, Monday morning. Ward was injured on a reception in the first quarter of the game. Steelers Drop Ravens 23-14, Head To Super Bowl 43

In another war with division rival Baltimore Ravens, the Steelers ended up winning the AFC Championship Game 23-14 to advance to Super Bowl 43 to play the Arizona Cardinals. The game as expected was a hard hitting game, but the Steelers defense once again saved the day. Safety Troy Polamalu intercepted a Joe Flacco pass with 4:39 left in the game and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown. The Baltimore Ravens may be without running backs Willis McGahee and Ray Rice on Sunday versus the Steelers. McGahee is suffering from a shoulder stinger, while Rice has a badly bruised shin.
