Steelers Six From Around The Web – Thursday June 2nd – No Hard Knocks For Cowher Edition

Steelers receiver Hines Ward was on 680 The Fan radio in Atlanta for an interview you can listen to and said it\’s difficult to take big hits out of football and suggests flag football and that the new guidelines clash with the physical nature of the sport. He made it pretty clear that he didn\’t agree with the new rules.

The latest episode of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I talk about the Ohio State mess, the recent James Harrison comments on the new rules and it ends with an interview of Steelers kicker Swayze Waters.

Kirwan said in a recent chat on NFL.com that former Steelers coach Bill Cowher turned down the show HBO Hard Knocks multiple times because Cowher thinks there is a sensitivity between player and coach that isn’t for public consumption. Kirwan thinks that perhaps there is a competitive disadvantage by being on the show as well.

Ariko Iso, the first full-time female athletic trainer in the NFL, is leaving the Steelers to become the head athletic trainer at her alma mater Oregon State. Iso has been an assistant trainer with the Steelers for nine seasons.

Registration opens today online for the hhgregg All Pro Dad Father and Kids Experience that will be hosted by Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and former center Jeff Hartings. It will be held at the UPMC Sports Performance Complex on June 25th.
