2012 Draft

Steelers Bring In Mississippi Tackle Bobby Massie For Pre Draft Visit

Another day and another pre draft visitor is in town for a visit as Scott Brown reports via Twitter that University of Mississippi tackle Bobby Massie is visiting with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday.

Massie decided to enter the draft after his junior season where he started 29 consecutive games for the Rebels at right tackle. At the NFL combine he measured in at 6061 and weighed 316 pounds. He has 35 inch arms and 9 inch hands. He ran an unofficial 40 yard dash time of 5.23 seconds and put up 22 reps on the bench. He showed his agility with a 4.95 seconds short shuttle time and his vertical jump was measured at 27.5 inches.

On tape Massie handles speed rushers moderately well and shows good footwork on the edge. He is very agile for a player his size, but is raw overall in his pass protection as doesn\’t always use his long arms and hands to his advantage. Run blocking is his strong suit as he is able to use his size to maul defenders. He has also shown the ability to get to the second level effectively when asked to do so. Massie projects initially as a right tackle at the next level. He is currently projected to be drafted somewhere between rounds 2 and 4.

Below are some video highlights of Massie in action against Alabama.
